Think you are talking re Embassy Tyres? still there accessed from the dirt track at back (former pit railway line) I've an idea (from my mother) it was run by some well known basford bloke, had one of those names everyone knew cept I can't recall it! ala billy bacon, (but not him) about 2 years ago was advertising wheel alignment service, I once took a reliant there for mot, failed as they all did on chassis corrosion! he might have had the garage top corner of Cowley Street pre demo of area for Basford flats?
Seem to recall his name was Adrian --- dark glasses and a 'tache

They could have been mates ,not sure, --- we moved from Carlton to Colwick in the early 70's so who knows -- my dad was Fred Peatman.
I remember Charlie Denoon --- once bought a big old Cadillac Convertible off him when we were all going through the Yank Tank phase.
still got the bike though -- we get a bit more sun here !!

Sadly Dave passed away a few years ago. He worked for Bill when he had a unit at Blenheim in Bulwell must be twenty odd years ago. Is Bill Kelly still about ?
I remember Bill Kelly -- he had a unit behind me on the Blenheim Estate in the early eighties.We used to "maintain" his trucks for him and they certainly needed a lot of maintenance.He was a very likeable roguish character but I recall the council were never happy with him on the estate.Wonder what happened to him?

Yes - it cost me 16p for the stamp and I sold it for £400 the same christmas, just to get pressies for the kids. Needless to say the pressies are long gone.
Some lucky git got a real bargain there. !! -- bet you wish you'd kept it now -- very sought after.

I won a Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar from the Sun newspaper in 1983. They wanted me to collect it from Les Paul himself but at the time I couldn't afford to make my own way to London, so they sent it by courier.
Fair play to yer !! ---- I paid £2150.00 for mine --- good guitar though !!

Mate of mine bought a racing Itom in the mid/late sixties -- seem to remember he bought it from Andy Bone's ----Orange and black springs to mind.
Coincidentally, I bought my H/D FXR from Andy Bones -- 1991 - still got it !
