Just been reading Bips blog about charities and it reminded me about a chap i knew who went collecting round pubs for a charity. When his box / can was full he used to take his 30% commission and pass it on to the Nottm area office who took their cut. It was passed to Birmingham who took their cut and then on to London who took theirs. For every pound collected Seven pence went to the actual charity. If thats not a rip off i don't know what is.

Does anyone remember the garage on Foxhill road near the Carlton pub? They used to build cars for TV use, one of doctor Who's cars was built there.

It was a poor turn out. kathleen Dooley the organiser turned up but none of her seven brothers. Quite a few promised but never made it, Babysitting problems etc. Some names that did make it, Diane Dore and her sister Jacqui, Rob Perkins, Kev Clarke, John Hammond, Billy pierce and a couple of women who's names i have forgotten. Including me there were twelve people.

Some of your team were not born in Britain.
Maybe your black population is up there with the best?

Austen Avenue in Forest fields is still partly cobbled.

That street sounds to me like Jenner street. First road on the right off Hucknall road, there were terraced houses on there early sixties but not now. It is behind a pub that was called the New Inn and there is a pub on that road called the Gladstone. Does that sound familiar Bazzer?
