Found an old radio in our basement name looks like Thorola, mesh with a casing around. Not in to bad condition as its been there since about 1938. Any ideas of where it was made.

Cliff Ton...hubby says thanks for the photographs and map, we managed to sort out where he was with the help of the lamp post. When we came back to Nottingham after a number of years away all that we could find was the lamp post.

Cliff Ton....thank you, have never seen the two pictures you have found, I am sure that when hubby sees them he will be able to pick out family houses. The first street map you sent could you let me know how to access it as a lot of his friends lived on Northgate maybe see their houses as well.

There were only two houses in Palm Villas 11@11a, one of which belonged to his grandfather, he lived in 9 Palm Street.

There is one thing you can't find on picture the past, a photograph of Palm Street or Palm Villas. All that they have is waste ground and a lamp post. I have tried every avenue (including yourself) and nothing comes up. As has been said before on this forum if Cliff Ton can't find it, it aint there. Gem

The only reason that Madeline went missing is that she was left alone in a villa while her parents went out. That is what her parents have to live with for the rest of their lives, maybe this is the reason her parents push so much to keep her case alive.

Another £145k given to the Metrpolitan Police Force to continue with the search for Madeleine McCann.
Just when will this farce end, and folk wise up to these two !
I agree with you 100% to date the amount is quoted is £11 million, what about all the other missing children who could have benefitted from some of this money. I can't imagine losing a child in any circumstances but there has to come a time when it stops, Why are they different because "upper class" had the ear of David Cameron, can we ask what the money raised by donation was used for.

1880 would be my year of choice, wearing those beautiful clothes and big hats. When i was older joining the suffragette movement how i would have loved that, a great turning point for women. I have a photograph of my great aunt at a meeting maybe i could superimpose my face onto hers and pretend. Hubby says i am losing the plot.

Unfortunately our council decided a few years ago to demolish a crescent of regency houses to build a monstrosity. A new council house all red brick. Newcastle council not unlike Nottingham razed a regency arcade and built ugly office block and car park, which they have since pulled down as was never used to capacity.

Hubby watched your video brought back good memories of visiting with his brother and mum.
We met at goose fair, we were both with friends most of mine were not from nottingham. We were asked if we would like to go for drink we ended up in the Bleachers Arms, talk about shell shock. Out of that meeting three of us married nottingham lads and all still together.

My daughter had good O Level results and we thought she would stay at school, came in announced she had a job apprentice florist. Opened her first shop at 22. My son said he was going to university to study engineering came in on his 18t birthday and had joined the army.
No wonder my hair went grey early - proud of what they have become.

We geordies are renowned for our friendly attitude to everyone (football not included) when hubby met my grandfather for the first time he couldn't understand him. Granda was a pitman with an accent all his own , he never turned a corner he "coined" it. As every vistor will tell you we have some of the most beautiful coastline and castles in the world. As i married a basford lad we may be short of good lads up here.
Fly being called a canny lad is a good thing - did you try the Brown Ale.

I'm still going through many paws...and probably will be until I shuffle off into the sunset!
Jill an article in our local paper covers the death of the oldest recorded cat in the world aged 32. Found as a stray in poor condition aged about 5 shows what love can do.

Wetherspoons in Hexham, Northumberland is a beautiful art deco cinema. Sometimes wish spoons had a separate part for families, be nice to have lunch without unruly children running riot.

I was watching a news programme today about Boris Johnson's visit to the Virgin Islands and standing behind him was my son !!!! He was only on view for seconds but so nice to see him so unexpectedly. I was a very proud mum, he wears his green beret with pride.

Just the same as those people including Mrs C who eat chips without salt & vinegar.
I'm with Mrs C on this one, don't have salt and vinegar on my fish and chips either.

When i was accepted at Nottingham Uni asked them to help me find somewhere to live. They found us a flat in Radford seemed ok on paper so we accepted, bit of a shock when we arrived. It was directly in front of players factory and the first thing we noticed was the smell we had no choice than to move in. We were living next door to a muslim family who were nice but killed chickens in their backyard on Fridays. We stayed 3 months before moving to West Bridgeford sharing a house with a girl I met at uni. My friend had got a job at players and travelled back to radford as the wages were good.
