    Going across the border with this one but I remember the Ordnance Depot in West Hallam near Ilkeston used to sound a all clear from a WW2/Cold War siren everyday at noon. I lived a couple of miles away and being a little kid it always used to scare me. They must have stopped sounding it in the early 80's.

    Been lurking on this forum for ages and find it really interesting ... I live in Mansfield Woodhouse but lived in Nottingham for a while. I'm interested in all things Railway ... Especially old railway history in Nottingham ... Just getting to grips with the history of railways in and around Mansfield !!! Hope to add my two Penneth worth to the posts in the future !!! I'm glad to be here !!!
