Crankypig, the 26, 46, 47 & 100 don't stop to set down until after CArlton, to ensure that their is sufficient capacity for the passengers wishing to travel to the outlying villages.

Chulla, I can't provide the answer to your question regarding "Anniversary seats", but in between NCT using punch tickets and Ultimates, they used a machine called T.I.M.,(Ticket Issuing Machine) which printed tickets on to a plain white roll approx 2 inches wide.

Midland General, Trent, Bartons and South Notts all used the Setright ticket machines.

No trolleybuses didn't have to stop, a change was made to carbon inserts to stop the arcing, also white circles were painted on to the road at wiring junctions, to indicate to drivers that they should come off of the power and coast through the junction to avoid arcing.

Catfan, Dad is Clive Johnson, before he left NCT he was Branch Secretary of the TGWU and worked alongside Harry Ball.

Catfan, my Dad worked for NCT from 1963 until 1977. He said the two best types he drove were the pre-select AEC Regent IIIs at Bilborough depot when he first passed his test, closely followed by the AN68s that were newly allocated to Trent Bridge in 1973/4. However he does admit that when the AN68s were converted from semi-automatic to fully automatic they weren't as good.

Merthyr Imp, I know what you mean. Whenever I think of Nottingham buses it isn't multi coloured Scanias that come to mind but magnificent green and cream AEC Renowns with that melodic gearbox whine as they climbed Derby Road to Canning Circus, or the roar of a Leyland 0680 followed by the distinctive sneeze of the gearchange of Leyland Atlanteans departing South Parade for West Bridgford.

Banjo48, it is probably a sub concious thing that causes the accents of those of us that are exiled to become stronger when we either spend time back in Nottingham, or think or read about home. My missus swears that she knows when I have been looking at the Nottstalgia website, as she says that my accent becomes much broader.

Here is a really unusual sight, AEC Regent V 273 working on the Central Area Free Service 77 in January 1976. I have no other memories of double deckers on the 77/88s and this is the only such photo that I have come across.

Born in the Firs, October 1965, lived in Broxtowe until September 1968, moved to Clifton 1968-1977. Exiled to South Derbyshire and now residing in Northampton. Still a proud Snot, fanatical 'Pies supporter. My kids think I have a funny accent, I think they put r's in the wrong place. It is a bath not a barth etc. Nobody else in the house likes mushy peas, despite my protestations that when served with mint sauce they should be considered a delicacy.

With reference to Methyr Imp's post #661, showing the photo of NCT Fleetline 78, I am pretty sure that the blinds are indeed showing the service number as 33. The bus would in fact be on the then newly introduced Saturday Park & Ride service 303 from South Sherwood Street to the Forest Recreation Ground. As NCT buses only had two track blinds at that time, they would show 33 as it would not be confused with any exsiting service number.

Ian, yes it would be 1965/6 as the bus in front of the trolleybus is an AEC Renown and those were delivered in 1965. The last trolleybus ran on 30th June 1966
