  1. Unfortunately, Atlantean 526 is no longer in preservation. David Henderson, whom I came to know quite well when he was driving for Northampton Transport, had to give up the unequal struggle against chassis corrosion. He offered it to Nottingham Heritage Vehicles for continued preservation, but they broke it for parts to keep their other ex NCT vehicles running.

  2. Whilst deploring the building on sportsfields, I cannot agree with you Mary about Britain not doing well at the Olympic Games. In 2008 we finished fourth in the medals table behind, USA, China and Russia, 2012 we were third behind China and USA, whilst in 2016 we were second behind USA. Given our relative size we have certainly been punching above our weight in recent times.

  3. A very brave man indeed. Finally succumbed to his injuries received from his crash at the 1976 German Grand Prix. He certainly lived life to the full in the 43 years that he had following that crash. An inspiration to others that have to live with life changing injuries.

  4. My belief, is that Kevin Nolan had already lined up his transfer targets before the end of last season under the impression that Notts would win promotion and be playing in League 1. These players would have been well suited to League 1 where you get more time on the ball. However as we know three crucial decisions went against Notts in the two games against Coventry City and we missed out on promotion. The players that came in were not suited to the more physical style of League 2 and we have paid the ultimate price.

As long as we avoid going into administration a top seven finish and therefore the play offs should be a realistic target, but every club coming to Meadow Lane next season will see it as their Cup Final, so nothing can be taken for granted.

  5. Of course, we could beat Mk Dons and Crawley. Yeovil and Macclesfield lose both of their games and come five o'clock on Easter Monday we are four points clear of the drop zone with two games left to play. I'd give up my Hot Cross Buns and Easter Eggs to make that happen.

  6. 2 hours ago, Beekay said:

Never been but, I was once told that most of the buses on Malta were ex London transport. Is that true or was somebody pulling my gearlever.

Beekay, in the late 70s a number of ex London Transport AEC Swifts were exported to Malta to replace some of the life expired bonneted vehicles.

  7. RR, its two at home, three away. Our away form is better then our home form, 46 points should see us safe, so three more wins should do it. (Crawley are in free fall and could still get dragged into the dog fight.

  8. If I remember correctly 1975/6 was the last season that we finished higher than Forest. Coincidentally that was the first season I started going down the  Lane. First game was on a Tuesday night in November, we beat Plymouth Argyle 1-0 thanks to an Ian Scanlon header.
