They seek him here, they seek him there.
Is he in Sneinton, is he in Clifton?
Is he dahn tahn or up Hockley?
That damned elusive Flat Cap!
-
I MUST be getting old now then
He was always so full of energy on the stage!

Why does this obsession with the blatant troller persist, even after his alleged departure?
The golden rule of 'don't feed the troll' seems to have passed this forum by!
Sat back in amazement as his initial, clearly obnoxious, postings were greeted with such delight by much of the forum..... I merely ignored him, from Day 1.
I'd guess he'd regard his Nottstalgia sojourn as being as lucrative as any previous stunts.
Cheers
Robt P.
Rob, I'd presume most of the members of this site have very little to no experience of chat forums before this site. Thats why I posted the warning thread to educate them on the pitfalls of forums.
We all had to start somewhere and learn what Trolls were the hard way.
Cali told me that this board was her first forum, so at a guess, it could probably be said the rest are new to them?
I've been around them a few years now, made loads of mistakes, hadn't a clue about Trolls or how to deal with them back then.

After several attempts I sussed out who they were, eventually getting ten out of ten!

OH PLEASE!!!
While all u mods are chatting amongst yourselves, have u noticed that no one else is? I cant speak for the others but i'm pissed off with it all.
Too many chiefs for my liking. inthebin
There's only usually one chief on a forum Angi, that is the Admin.
The Admin appoints moderators to watch over the board whilst he off working or doing "his thing"
Their job is to make sure there is no impropriety going off while the Admin is away from the boards, ie swearing, trolling etc.
Their powers are minimul!

Now that would be a shock Rob!! I have done my best over the ten or more years I've been on the internet to trace old mates down with very little success.

Dunno Rob, I left Nottingham in early 1975, I was at Clifton Estate at that time. I left the UK in 79, so I'm completely out of touch now...

There used to be a Lady Bay shop at the bottom of Blue Bell Hill near Alfred St South, they closed it and renovated another place close by on Alfred Street South a few doors up from Blue Bell Hill Road. My Mum was the first manageress of that one when it opened way back around 1960. We lived on the premises, oposite Agars green grocery shop.
Many years later I worked with old man Agar at Cotgrave Colliery.

If you read back through the posts, I said almost from day one Flatcap was a windup merchant, a troll
Mind you, I did think at one stage it was Den having a bit of fun, and being given Mod status helped a bit on that track...
-
Yes it was a good run.. I'd started inviting the neighbours round to watch the show whilst selling tubs of popcorn, and cups of tea.. the £5 profit will go towards our summer hols at Clacton.
I have a mate who "Trolls" forums and does what FC has been doing here

I like your style Mick !rotfl!

I reckons he needs his moderator status revoked! I was responding to one of Mick's posts just now, and was locked out! This is his way of having the last word.
Also, how is he able to be posting when his name doesn't show up on the online list?
He's used the hidden status Cali, I used to do that on another forum.
-
He's also editing my posts to his liking without leaving any evidence of it having been edited.
HMMM...Mick?
Yep, thats what mods can do, but ONLY when there has been a transgression of the site rules!
-
Just checked my Admin functions on one of my sites, only Admin is allowed to lock a thread down, that means on the one I checked, myself and my wife. None of my Moderators were given that power.
-
I agree, he's trying to take over!
TROLL...Definition, a person who disrupts a chat forum.
Heat Pumps & Air Conditioning?
in Owt' Abaaht Nowt !
Posted
They are fairly common around these parts Mick, to be honest, I wasn't too impressed by them. Once the temperature drops below freezing, one has to provide heating.
They only work as long as there is some heat in the outside air, and with our winters, nights would be pretty cold without extra heating from another source!
One being advertised by our utility co-ops is ground source heat and cooling, cheap once installed and always warm in winter and cool in summer. BUT it does require supplimental heat and cooling. It relies on pipework buried a few feetin the ground and picks up heat from the ground, which is always there.
From what I have read on it, the temps are around 55 to 60F, not a lot, but can halve heat costs in winter and reduce cooling costs in summer.
I'm a woodfire stalwart myself, we have a woodstove, and it keeps us toasty warm all winter at only the cost of chainsaw fuel and bar oil!
Summer comes the fans.
