Keep thinking positive, I have a mate who had the same problem. He went through a rough time but the treatment worked, so it could well do the same in your case.

Often smile to myself at announcements in my local diy when the customer desk puts out a "colleague request". If they are colleagues why can't they use the name of the person needed?

Another commonly heard mispronunciation is a road in Hucknall, Wighay Road. Many times I have heard local radio presenters pronounce it as Wig Hay when it is really Wiggy. If people working in the media can't get it right what chance have strangers got?

The Queens English has been good enough for people to communicate for many years so why does the younger generation need to cannibalise it these days I ask myself. Many of the phrases I knew as a youngster would get you funny looks these days due to somebody hijacking them for a totally different meaning. As the old saying stated "the man who truly knows what he is saying speaks in a language we all understand ".

A lot of people, me included, have stopped having newspapers because of the inane drivel that most of them print. I am not interested in which so called celebrity has done what to another waste of time or which socialite has cracked a fingernail. If they can't print worthy news then don't bother.

If HS whatever number you choose is going to take so much less time to do the journeys it is not going to have much time to stop anywhere else on the way so it won't be much use to the rest of us. I am all for improvement but not at any cost, once a price is quoted that should be it. If we mere mortals had a tradesman do a job we would expect a quote to be accurate, why does the Government allow itself to be ripped off time after time? There is no wonder we are becoming a laughing stock to the rest of the world, perhaps we should use some of the fortune in foreign aid that we pay out to improve our infrastructure instead of giving it to those who simply ask for more.

I had a mate when I worked in engineering who would turn on anybody who upset him with the phrase "may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your a******e". Often left a puzzled look on the face of the recipient.

My grandma used to describe those who spoke so quickly that you couldn't keep up with what they were saying as being all gob and nostrils.

Always remember, you were the one who clicked on the subject ,nobody forced you to do it. Sometimes curiosity proves interesting, other times it doesn't. Just accept the fact and carry on in your own particular direction.

In the mid eighties there was a report of the sighting of a ghost near what was then The Blue Boar. The occupants of three cars all claimed to have seen the figure of a woman in old style clothing cross the road between them. The people did not know each other and none of them had been drinking but all gave the same description of the figure. Legend has it that the ghost of Jenny Burton walks the road in this area , having been a farm resident close by in years gone by. Having read the report of the sighting the previous evening I was driving past the scene the next afternoon when there was a rustling sound from the dashboard. Needless to say my heart was in my mouth and clean underwear was needed but I was more than relieved to discover the sound was created by leaves in the air vent and not an unexpected passenger. I can smile now but I don't think I have ever been so frightened as I was that afternoon.

It's also lost most of the trade it had due to dubious decisions from various authorities and bodies who keep telling us their ideas are good for us. It seems to be taking a long time for the benefits of their ideas to become apparent.

Quite likely a lot of the younger generation will never qualify as old farts as they don't even have enough intelligence to qualify as young idiots.
