My grandma (who's maiden name was Thompson) always said we were related to Bendigo in a round-about way of some sort. You know what I mean - his father's cousins cousin was our great aunt's uncle's cousin twice removed sort of thing. Grandma always told some tall tales but they usually had a grain of truth in them. I have tried, but have never been able to prove a link.

I was there from 1963-1968.

My brother say that in his younger days (born in 1930s) he and his mates climbed over the fence into Staffords and dug about in the rubbish for some "marbles". I think they must have been used somewhere in the printing process. They were not very well thought of though and lots of games would be started with the words "no Staffords".

I was Lynda Hill. Most of this is basically true, but with one or two mistakes. Mum and Dad never stopped me palling about with anyone - I just moved on. I did go out with Rob Shelton from the age of 14. I married him at 17 and had my first child at 19. It was a quick wedding because we found a house to rent ! I did stay married to Rob until he died in 2006. We moved from Dunstan Street to Bakersfield in 1987. I was with the Scouts for many years (over 30) until I left in 2014. Hope this clarifies some things.

I have been lurking about reading this forum for a few years, but just decided to join. I was born on Cavendish Road, Carlton, went to Carlton Central Primary School (when it fell down) then Carlton Le Willows Grammar School. I went out with and married a Netherfield lad, and moved to Netherfield, now at Bakersfield so didn't go far. I have worked at Boots, Thorn, and Hillarys.
