Melbourne has been hit by a resurgence of corona virus with the number of cases in the hundreds over the last few days. The media reporting indicates that it resulted from poorly handled security of returnees in hotel quarantine. It has now spread to pockets in New South Wales resulting in Queensland closing its borders to people from two council areas in NSW.

Meanwhile here in South Australia we are still Covid19 free, however I fully expect a resurgence after authorities allow 25,000 per game in to two Aussie rules game being held in Adelaide in the coming days.

I really do not understand the logic that makes them think they can do this safely at this point in time.

Keep safe everyone and remember, it is not over until its over and we have a proven ant-viral that can be rolled out to all.

Until recently, pedestrians on the southern Gold Coast were able  to travel between Queensland and New South Wales unhindered and without checks.

Hi boys and girls. Whilst surfing the net during this lockdown period I just found this site for the first time. My name is Michael Bastable (Mick or Ginge or Ginger) and I was at ACHS in its first year, being bussed in from Mansfield. I started in Class 1BR, Mr Briers and was in Aylward House. I have fond memories of my time there for two years before moving on to Rushcliffe Boys Technical Grammar. My only claim to fame at ACHS is that I was the first pupil in the school to climb the ropes in the Gym and touch the ceiling . In the early days the Gym hadn't been completed nor had the sports fields, and the science labs were still being kitted out. Our PE lessons consisted of walking across the rugby pitch, bucket in hand and picking stones to make it safe to play on.(A reminder that Health and Safety existed before 1974). If any of you remember me it would be nice to hear from you. If you do remember me -you're old.

Hi Michael (Mick), like you I went to ACHS and and then Rushcliffe.

Yes I do benj, I have a photo of us in there, must find it. We always called it 'The Long Bar', right up the far end of the road, on the corner. Not sure if that was its proper name though. It had the Juke box with the videos. The one that stays in my mind was 'Screaming Lord Sutch singing Jack the Ripper'. You can see the video on You Tube. I can't remember if it was a tanner or a bob to play it.

Hi Carni,  the jukebox with videos was at the Seaview Hotel. The pub with the downstairs bar was the Jolly Fisherman. The upstairs bar was closed during the off-season.

    Great memories.

    Regards,

Phil, I used to have a Holden station wagon when I first moved to Oz, it had a straight six cylinder engine and a three speed column change. It also had get up and go when you let the clutch out and hit the gas!!!

I was in Canberra heading to my cousin and was stopped at a set of lights, a kid in a little car decided he wanted to race me, kept revving his engine, so I mocked him, VROOM!!...vroom his car went VROOM mine went...lights changed, off he took and I just casually started from the lights and let him have the fun and me making him look foolish...LOL

When I first moved to AustraliaI  I also had a straight six Holden with a three speed column change.  Fortunately, I soon  changed that for a much better vehicle.

Hi DJ360, Thank you for your comment. The 360 was a good club for live entertainment. Tiny Davis was the singer in Tiny Davis Souls A Go-Go.  From recollection, prior to members leaving, the band had lead and bass guitars, drums, keyboard, two saxes, trumpet and female backing singers. Tiny was asked to join Litter after the original singer,Win Jones, left.

Tiny (Vic Johnson) was the singer in the Newtones  whose bass player  later played in the Reg Guest Trio.
