  1. I like 24bit/96 in general or 192 but only recorded a few personally.

Back in the eighties I was dating a stunning lady for four years..on a sunny Sunday day we stayed in and cleaned vinyl records..for four year's plus!!

Using a DACmagic over about eight feet of cable at present, apparently more the better, especially if I was to go HDMI. Like the cordless mouse, TV Artwork set up.

Back to 24 bit..as I said like the vinyl rip's...my big gripe is when, (downloads) they give an old artist a 'modern' sound. Mostly down, to a currently fashionable remix plus..compression and brickwalling.

Doe's anybody remember when the Industry said the maximum life of a CD was ten years.

Also the CD"s that "crippled' your writer if you tried to copy? Banned due to the possibility of human error...was it a Sony Invention?

Think Christina Ag?   Aussie..was a box carrying the warning.

I can think of two sayings connected with age. I can't decide if I agree with either of them.

    1.    You're as old as you feel.

    2.   You're as old as other people think you are.

One I remember, Act your age, not your shoe size,

Best comedies of recent years, a decade plus, are Inbetweeners and Peep Show..

50 is the new 40.. should now be 100 is the new eighty.

What was the one about being a year younger than my Teeth? Heard it about 2 year's ago, first time in over 30!

HSR, 60 is not old, I can give you 17 years, or at least I could but I need them all now. Me and 'er indoors are now into our 192nd day of isolation, so it looks like a quiet Christmas for us.........again !

I used to collect football pools in the 80/90's .my opening banter after Christmas, was 'did you have a good Christmas?'

    Nearly every replay was....'Quiet'..

    ;)

  4. Noticed in that excellent post about St Ann's, the 'fever Hospital' cropped up again, can't see the foundation's in Cliffton's superb aerial pic (mid 20's ?).

I'm coming to the conclusion that the the 'fever hospital' was solely related to the asylum,t the workhouse also had a fever ward in 1851.

  5. Always detested cats..used have deliveries, potatoes, eggs, etc...pissed over by a tom cat two doors up in the 1980's..nice greeting after a day out working!

Flipside, Friend had two Siamese, never went outside.. briefly dated a women with two long haired, again never outside, comes down to the owners.

  7. My partner "collects' .,.saves the modern 50 pences, Potter, Paddington etc, I have a few old pennies in the loft, remember the ship halfpenny, have a couple of the old 60's fiver's and a pound note, why? I don't know,  but glad I have them!

My favourite was the small silver coin.. not sure of it's name, thrupenny bit?

Close on 25 year's since i've seen them!

Edit.. thinking, ;) was the small silver one a sixpence? Like the one with the Wren..all just before my time!

  8. Other than Elwes and In for a Penny, yes your right, they are gone, regarding the Catholic Club, assuming I have the right one.. same side as the Bruno, a little further up the hill...

became a gym/fitness centre..then became the 'Doghouse' rehearsal/recording studio & live venue, which also closed about 5 year's ago.

Doe's anybody remember a independent betting shop which was round the side? when it was the Catholic Club?

Rose queen, thanks for the inspiration and reminders..
