I remember when looking at some census returns, there would be an asylum and everyone living in there would be listed. Under 'occupation' it said lunatic. Not very P.C.
When seeing that category on the 1911 census, I wondered what is the difference between a lunatic & an imbecile!
I find the 1911 census fascinating as it was written in our ancestors own hand.
Horrible line through by some officiouis so & so, I understood what they were saying, children born, & still alive, he had taken second wife.. a second wife, clever clogs enumerator!
Only had one chap that appeared in that tick box, his dad listed him deaf & dum, lived with his mum after father's death, worked on the railway as a porter...and went on to marry their lodger in the mid thirties.

By the fourth year, or earlier, the sack was becoming somewhat threadbare, with the removal of the thread, and the application of spit..and a certain amount of skill....a physics lesson..

Bad tenant's, slum landlord's, C5?.. enjoy!
There are some incredible discrepancies, A* to a U I heard on the radio, it's a strange year.. luck on the bright side and let them fly..
Chances are the considered under achiever's will shine in an odd year.
And as DJ say's, the number of foreign students will probably be down by 30 percent at least..

Thankfully my doctors pharmacy is a hatch..
Regarding builder types not wearing masks, 'understandable' that staff let them in.
I don't have social media, so left wondering isn't there some form of photo & shame, if they were made to feel like leper's they might conform.

Just got up, on ITV4, there is an episode of Robin of Sherwood with Michael pread? (Spelling) never watched it..liked the Clanad theme however, had a couple of girlfriend's that had a major crush on this 'Robin'!
Back on topic prior to Hawkwind playing rock city in, I think '85 I went to a party and there was this chap that looked like the said Robin, the girl's seemed to be fascinated by his balsa sword & he was dressed in the period costume.
The following night at the gig, the same chap took the stage for the one song and a mock swordfight!
Apologies for the ramble, who'd have thought it, previously I thought he deserved a maximum of four letters!

Didn't the Playhouse bar have coffee dispensers at this time, you could grab as many milk & sugar sachet's as you wanted?
Wasn't the seating, in the theatre also retractable?

The Colourwheel was on Greyhound St, as previously stated, opened while Rock City was undergoing what I recall being a six week renovation.
It encouraged members, with a card, you got a reduced entrance fee.
Good rock music, with an awesome dry ice machine.
It had issue's with people throwing icecubes upstairs, closed soon after. This was definitely 85-86.

Thanks Cliffton, yes that was my best summation, I'll go with that.
I think i do recall reading (5 years ago..a long time nowdays) of transfer's to Ransom Road which was no longer fee-paying, and also references up to the early twenties.

Not surprised this has no responses, I was being a lazy so & so, went back with a magnifying glass, the maps 1899, published 1901.
I have been looking for a definitive guesstimate on the closing of the Asylum for awhile.
The 'fever hospital' is also very intriguing.

Pendulum was a great place. First right at the entrance, remember it was difficult to see the owner with all the sleeves on display, arm came through to collect your cash!
Think I remember the other stall, never bought many 45's, it was much further in, wondering if it had any thing to do with the stall that traded comics?

Went for a wonder with Letsavagoo's brilliant map on the football, bobbers mill thread.
Rather then interupting, better to post here, noticed there's an additional 'fever hospital' near the Asylum, new one on me, what year was the map?
