We had cause to visit Nottm today, but 'Alas' due to ill relations we had to abandon todays house visits at last minute. So not to waste the day, we dropped son and partner at Wollaton Park, for 4hrs and we drove around enjoying the scenery . Lovely views around Woodborough. Firstly we drove to Stoke Bardolph and enjoyed our sandwiches by the river, in the car park opposite 'The Ferry Boat''. Took the opportunity to get this shot of a Cormarant on the opposite shore, showing off its wing span, which isn't massive but impressive and usefull. At least it wasn't munching a gigantic Eel, as the last time I saw one. Here goes!
Interesting picture! By choice they would eat nothing else but eels..a bit like me with beans on toast!

I remember Briddocks! The building with the pointed roof? They stocked everything! Floorspace had no premium. Wasn't there also a shop just up from there that sold medals & Militaria ? Very narrow but running parallel with Parliament St?

Moulin Rouge was directly facing Victoria Station? I also recall a very similar place just down from the Peacock Pub, only section opened, a news agents, always wondered what it was previously?. Wasn't there also a Hi-fi shop roughly facing the Peacock in the Early 90's?

Sorry Fly ..missed the David Clayton reference Bilborough..don't know the area at all. The Free appreciation society meet up's were somewhere around Midland Station.

Fly2..yes I have it great read & the newer hardback version beautifully presented, signed by David Clayton & Simon Kirke with the later addition of Paul Rodgers. Also have some of the Appreciation Society Fanzines.

Remember John Shaw doing the Folk show on Trent before Castle Rock with Graham Neale. One show featured an interview with an author presumably David Clayton being a Nottingham man about a book about Paul Kossoff. Don't recall it coming out. Many years later morphed into Heavy Load a book about Free.

Wow Dj360..would have liked to have been at some of those gigs.. Especially the Tull one ! Saw them in 1976 ! The odd period!☺ Then again the Broadsword album..liked that one and also crest of..Mr Anderson's favourite..
Purely by chance, In the mid eighties I popped into a country pub in Cambridgeshire and Mr Anderson was doing a impromptu solo set ...penny whistle, tapping spoons along with the flute & guitar... pure genius!

I'd give them slightly more rope than that, gave Donnington a miss for the that very reason!, got dragged along to Milton Keynes ...even worse! Rain & Mystery Song though ..great stuff..two guitar riffing at it's best !
