He has written a lot of books, but one series in particular is about a Nottingham detective called Charlie Resnick. The stories are set in the city centre I do believe. Rather enjoyed the book - perhaps somewhat repetitive, especially with Jazz as a prominent feature, clearly Harvey's passion - nevertheless a good read. Constant references, with strong descriptions, to areas of the City with which we are all familiar, a la Sillitoe and Stanley Middleton.
