GEORDIEBOY 0
HI all "GEORDIEBOY" here. New member signing in for the first time. I was fortunate enough to be posted to COD CHILWELL in 1971 and served there until september 1973. I absolutely loved the place. The people were friendly and Nottingham was a godsend to a single squaddie as i was then. I have fond memories of nights out in the Cadland and the Charlton Arms and having pie chips and curry sauce ont way `ome. If anyone out there was at Chilwell during the time i was there i`d love to hear from you. Cheers GEORDIEBOY
Limey 242
Ayup lad, and welcome. I lived in Long Eaton until 1976 so I know the areas you speak of. I presume from your name that you hail from the northeast - and I have had some fun up there in my time too - once dated a young lady who lived in the gatehouse at Bamburgh Castle! Sorry to hear about Martines Dad. I did know a s/sgt Saunders.Top Man. I was in the R.A.O.C. as well but only a lowly corporal. Still, Chilwell was the only place to be in the early 70`s and i loved every minute of my time there. the people were tremendous but sadly the beer wasn`t quite what i was used to when i first arrived but like any good soldier i quickly found the taste for it. I suppose the old place is unrecognisable now. It was when i was last there in the early 90`s to watch a army display in the old depot. GEORDIEBOY
GEORDIEBOY 0
Is that the team up north that plays in Notts County shirts??? !! Hi there littlebro. Yes we all know that notts county were one of the founder members of the football league but.... it was the proper MAGPIES that made the black `n` white shirt famous lol. I do have to admit though i did like watching county while i was stationed at COD CHILWELL and purely because they played in black & white shirts so they couldn`t have been that bad eh?
