ah, good old yma! .. It is no exaggeration to say that Yma Sumac possessed the most extraordinary voice of our times. If it were but a vocal instrument it would be exciting, but this beautiful Ican princess played her fabulous four-octave range with a variety of emotions, attitudes and tonal color that resulted in a unique and spellbinding experience..

and who can forget Ivan Rebroff that Germanic singer of Russian descent .. one of my all time favourites and true exponent of vocal splendour... he sang the unforgattable Volga song, Kosakev-Patroville and that all time eastern block favourite Katjushka!

they don't make them like this anymore!

You haven't mentioned the one Ivan Rebroff is famous for, namely, Kalinka. He sang this with the Russian Army choir.

He had a four and a half octave voice which took him from the lower end of the Bass range through the Baritone and Tenor to Soprano and into the Mezzo-Saprano range. From a man that looks like Rasputin, this was a sight to behold. In fact his voice range was better than the four octave voice of Yma Sumac.

A ;)
