  1. There are some clips from the film on YouTube aptly mixed with with one of my favourite Rolling Stones tracks Factory Girl, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-JMJ6XIuAM
  2. Don't remember jules et jim but I remember Dave Turner - always worth watching and very funny. There was an article on him recently on either the Evening Post or Radio Nottingham site. Sods law, I can't find it now.
  3. Been a long time since I went there, it used to have a really good folk music scene.
  4. Not sure about the car showroom but Madison's was definitely in that building - there's still a club there but I have no interest in what it's now called.
  5. I actually had to look them up as I couldn't recall the name but as soon as I saw the song mentioned I knew who they were, they've actually got a Wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tight_Fit
  6. The Left lion take on the Nottingham music scene - http://www.leftlion.co.uk/articles.cfm/id/613 If you remember Mark from Some Chicken / The Chimneys he passed away in 2006, there's a nice lirttle article here, you want page 16. http://www.leftlion.co.uk/issue12/leftlion_issue_12_web.pdf
  7. He was a really good presenter as well, my kids loved his shows. I agree with Beefsteak, he really didn't deserve the treatment he got.

    Lens Hire

Might be easier just to give Calumet a ring and get a rough idea of the UK prices. Not aware of anyone else in Nottingham that offers the service. If you definitely want to buy a lens, an alternative option is to lease (like you would do with a car) and for a fee you retain the equipment at the end of the contract; that payment option is available from Purdy's - http://www.ajpurdy.co.uk

Try Calumet http://www.calumetphoto.com/rental I think they've still got a branch in Nottingham - used to be on Nelson Street.
  10. I think it was the Hand Inn later to become the Stage Door.
  11. There was a band called Wheels. Others that I remember from the 70's, apart from Cisco and Gaffa, would include Down To Earth, Limelight, Medium Medium, The Hormones and the wonderful Fatal Charm These might be from the 80's (not sure) - Dawn Trader and Plummet Airlines.
  12. Mick2me, that was Meridian, I used to go in there occasionally - in fact I used to live across the road from it.
  13. Thanks for the info Den. I'm intrigued now, as you looked at Newtons from Quorn Road there were was a workshop (or maybe 2) directly to the left - I'd always associated these with the Brough Works - there are some brand new houses on the site now; can you by any chance remember what they were?
  14. Stretching my memory a bit here, going back to the time Haydn Road still had a railway station. The car plot, I think, was further along towards Nottingham Road - directly opposite they're used to be a packaging depot. As a kid I remember the corner shop on the junction of Warren Avenue and then there were a couple of houses and next to those there were two workshops/units - they were still there in the 70's when I left Haydn Road. I'll check some books when I get home and see if I can find a more precise location.
  15. Thanks for the welcome. No not that one, If I recall correctly it was almost opposite Quorn Road where Stag Furniture used to be. The work shops weren't large, from the front they were about the size of two semi's but obviously went further back; always had visions of Lawrance of Arabia scooting up and down Haydn Road.
  16. Brough also had a factory / workshop on Haydn Road in Sherwood - that was demolished some years ago.
