When mowing my front lawn yesterday i had my socks pulled up to the knee's.........Two young ladies passing by....were laughing and one shouted.......''Love your socks''.........they were still laughing when i told them i used to play for Chelsea.......thinking of making a come-back.......

Next time, can you get your wife or someone else to take a photo of this ? It's something I'm sure we'd all love to see.

Just realised its now 10 years since i joined 'Nottstalgia............Lots happened in that time.....remember in the early days meeting up with 'Mick to me'' and Clifton.....and having coffee in a place down near the Canal in town.......

I remember that meeting. It was the Wetherspoons 'Company Inn' in the old warehouse near the canal.  It closed over a year ago and the whole block is now being converted into luxury flats.

A bit later than usual but the Cuckoo arrived in full song this morning 06.45,

I've probably said this before, but I don't think I've ever heard a real cuckoo out in the open.

Presumably it's a case of being in the right place at the right time....and I'm not.

And now I've gone two consecutive months with nothing from Premium Bonds. That's a new record.

And the same thing has now happened again, April and May.  I may go somewhere else.

  5. When people say a newspaper is 'biased' what they're often actually saying is that the newspaper expresses opinions which they don't agree with.

Likewise a 'good' newspaper is one which reinforces their existing views.

  6. Seven Brides is one of those films which reminds me of my childhood....not because I saw the film at the time, but because my dad had the soundtrack LP.

He had a large collection of LPs ranging from classical to 'Light' to things like film soundtracks, and this is definitely one I remember.  The others which stick in my mind include 'Oklahoma' and 'South Pacific'. I knew the songs and the music years before I ever saw the films.

As an aside wasn't the Chateau, a Berni Inn on Wilford Rd.

Yes, the Chateau was a Berni at some point in its life, although I never managed to visit the place. It closed down and was demolished in the early 2000s, and the site now includes a Gym, a Starbucks, and a Lidl.

  8. Some Clifton services went over Clifton Bridge, and others went over Trent Bridge. The latter route included going along Wilford Lane which had a low railway bridge. All the operators (NCT, South Notts, WBUDC) had low-bridge buses to cope with that bridge. That's how I had direct experience of those long seats and side gangway.
