And to pass the time for half an hour I sometimes go to Youtube and search 'Pathe'.
You get lots of clips of Britain in the 50s-60s.

What did I miss?
Another spam post, presumably from a Bot, using that strange English which seems to come from a malfunctioning translation app.

Just realised its now 10 years since i joined 'Nottstalgia............Lots happened in that time.....remember in the early days meeting up with 'Mick to me'' and Clifton.....and having coffee in a place down near the Canal in town.......
I remember that meeting. It was the Wetherspoons 'Company Inn' in the old warehouse near the canal. It closed over a year ago and the whole block is now being converted into luxury flats.

I've learned something new today. Never come across 'Abasing' before, and had to look it up.

A bit later than usual but the Cuckoo arrived in full song this morning 06.45,
I've probably said this before, but I don't think I've ever heard a real cuckoo out in the open.
Presumably it's a case of being in the right place at the right time....and I'm not.

Bureaucrats creating jobs for bureaucrats. I looked at the propaganda which came through the door and realised that the whole thing was a complete waste of time and money.

This says a lot about him. Johnson was the person responsible for introducing voter ID.

Boots have apparently been around for 175 years.

I think you've got some of mine.
Last time I had two consecutive blanks, the following month I had a new record high, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for next month.

And now I've gone two consecutive months with nothing from Premium Bonds. That's a new record.
And the same thing has now happened again, April and May. I may go somewhere else.

Putting a 'Like' on that doesn't seem appropriate, so I'll say 'Noted'...and hope your consultations come out ok.

I've merged the two threads about Will Hill, Tailors, so everything is now here.

When people say a newspaper is 'biased' what they're often actually saying is that the newspaper expresses opinions which they don't agree with.
Likewise a 'good' newspaper is one which reinforces their existing views.

I assume this is the business in question. The Will Hill shop was on the corner of Trinity Square and Forman Street (to the left); and demolished in the 60s.

Seven Brides is one of those films which reminds me of my childhood....not because I saw the film at the time, but because my dad had the soundtrack LP.
He had a large collection of LPs ranging from classical to 'Light' to things like film soundtracks, and this is definitely one I remember. The others which stick in my mind include 'Oklahoma' and 'South Pacific'. I knew the songs and the music years before I ever saw the films.

Outside today I've been wearing a heavy jacket which I hadn't expected to use again until next winter.

As an aside wasn't the Chateau, a Berni Inn on Wilford Rd.
Yes, the Chateau was a Berni at some point in its life, although I never managed to visit the place. It closed down and was demolished in the early 2000s, and the site now includes a Gym, a Starbucks, and a Lidl.

Some Clifton services went over Clifton Bridge, and others went over Trent Bridge. The latter route included going along Wilford Lane which had a low railway bridge. All the operators (NCT, South Notts, WBUDC) had low-bridge buses to cope with that bridge. That's how I had direct experience of those long seats and side gangway.

Next time, can you get your wife or someone else to take a photo of this ? It's something I'm sure we'd all love to see.
