Col, I often use the so called rat run, as do many others, as it allegedly alleviates congestion at the Arnold Rd traffic lights. Personally, I don't believe it, so it must be Bestwood Pk residents using it.
I only use it to go to the convenience store in the old Deerstalker building.
If you do make a visit soon, have a look at the old 360 Club building. I walked passed the other day, and it's been cleaned up beautifully, and renovation work done. At the back its been all paved, and single story extensions built. It's now probably flats / apartments, but looks very presentable.

Ha, the bottom paragraph Col..... The mother must have come from several of the uncouth surrounding estates !
I won't wait around for the backlash.

Sadly, I never had any affinity to any one area, as I'd moved around fairly regularly. Sutton in Ashfield till I was 3. Garnet St, off Alfred St South till 9. Bridlington St on the border of Radford / Hyson Green till 13. Truro Cres in Bobbers Mill till 17, then Wollaton until I fled the nest, and even then, most of my spare time was spent in town.
Good memories of them all really !

I always thought they'd just brought up a mouthfull of vomit, rather than a adenoids problem.
Either way, it's a thoroughly disgusting accent.

One of our frequent visitors had the audacity to dig out a petunia from one of the wall troughs whilst burying his peanuts. It dropped on the path, and the little bu66er didn't even put it back !

He'll not be trying that one again I'll bet !

HSR, look in the Artists You've Seen in Nottingham. Maybe that's the one you're looking for. The search facility is pretty crap to say the least.

I'm with BT, but I think you definitely need an ariel for Freeview. May be wrong. Not sure re the extra box, but I would expect you'd require one.

It seems that loyal longstanding customers definitely get a raw deal.
We're just considering changing our home insurance deal with Tesco. It's doubled in price over two years !

I've spent a lot of time recently on utube, watching some of the best guitarists in the world. Bugger me ! You come to a superb guitar break, and the bleddy cameraman zooms to the drummer, singer, or even the flaming crowd ! Pathetic.

RR, I've seen Bulwell far worse than that. This week too !

I had the Arrow, the City Council periodical, and it's farcical. So self congratulatory.
Sorry Lizzie, but I think the city centre is deplorable at times, a such a shame. Vic Centre is ok though.
Long Row, Angel Row and Parliament St are litter strewn, even by mid morning. Some even have the previous nights 'human' detritus still decorating the pavements.
We're not alone though, as I've recently seen Southampton, Bournemouth, Salisbury and other so called pleasant cities, and they are gruesome.

One of the funniest books I ever read, was '1066 And All That' Absolutely hilarious.

During this hot weather, I hate seeing men in vests, with hairy backs and shoulders on view. Likewise, women in those boob tube things, with either no straps, or tiny ones. They invariably have excess flesh hanging over the top, which distorts their tattoos, and protruding flesh around the stomach area. Roll on autumn !

Disgusting and disgraceful behaviour nonna. Put a stop to that immediately !
-
Have all the staff been paid then ?
-
Yeah ! Party at Bens !

The first option, well, you don't know what you're getting, and the second option, well those that don't get an invite may get jealous and snitch.
Forget it Ben. Stick with your books and CD's !

A boring night on the box last night, so it was earphones on, and an evening of utube gems. Began with Free, then Frankie Miller. Found a pearler of Frankie and Paul Kossoff, 'I know why the sun don't shine'. Then a bit of Alvin Lee, with another super track, 'Motel Blues'.
Kossoff's playing is so smooth, but raw. Intense, but also so melodic. Contained, but flowing, and expressive. A sad loss.
Play the two aforementioned tracks, and if you're not emotionally moved by them, then I'm afraid you've no pulse!

An aunt and uncle of mine lived on Hawton Crescent throughout the 50's. I always considered it quite a posh area.

Civilisation as we know it will never be the same again !

It keeps you fit, and mentally alert Lizzie, that's for sure.
-
Keep positive nonna, and you'll cope. I've every confidence in you !
Sorry about your neighbour Mary, especially at a relatively young age. I'm afraid it's all part of life though, we all must get on with it.

Things that pee you off...

On Wednesday, I ordered some drill bits from a place in Leicester. Had an email notifying me the things had been posted. Then an email from Royal Mail saying they'd received them. Thursday, an email and a text from Royal Mail, informing me that they're scheduled for delivery this morning between 8.12, and 10.12. Was up early, no parcel, then went out at 10.35. Returned at 2.40. No parcel, and no card.
Why in Gods name don't they stop wasting money on texts and emails, and employ some more staff. Grrrr !
Good job I'm not desperate for them.
