  1. C Stan Harvey formerly Prince on right of picture, his wife Gladys nee Worley on left of picture. Myself and my parents are the three in the centre of the picture. I have no idea where the picture was taken or what the occasion was. I would be guessing at around 1963 or 4.
  2. The information you have found is correct. Rose Cooper was my Grandmother. She wasn't known by her first name Florence. I had assumed that she married Charles Stanley Prince as their son was Charles Stanley Prince but known as Stan. He was my Fathers half brother - my Uncle Stan. I had also noticed that there were Princes on Queens Grove all of which makes me wonder who actually knew who! I have the Coopers on Derwent Street and Ryland Street. The other thing of note is that on my Grandparents, Harvey marriage certificate that you have seen above it says she was widowed at the time of the marr
  3. Well I have to say it is nearer David Lane than I thought it was, so the memory is fading a bit now! I would have said it was more or less opposite Bar Lane.
  4. Can't remember exactly how far down he lived but it would be on the right hand side of the road in that picture going up the street. The house certainly isn't on that picture unless it is one of those near the top where the car is parked. Pavement is obviously less than two feet wide!
  5. I had an uncle whos father lived on Browns Croft, Basford. It joined Percy Street to Lincoln Street. 1 up 1 down, back to back house, quarry tile floor laid straight on earth, front door opened straight onto the pavement which was about 2 feet wide. Its just how it was then and no one moaned. I just happen to remember that house very well.
  6. These pictures of Queens Grove are not on PTP. Can't remember where they came from now. All three are 1909
  7. DaveP Regarding your post at #20, where did you get that from? It would be interesting to have that sort of info for some family members that were a bit closer.
  8. Thanks again. seem to have found a death record for Ernest - 1949
  9. Funny you should suggest that. I have just done the Robert Clay search. Mary's age is also wrong on that but I get the impression that she was a compulsive liar in any event. The address of 6 Queens Grove is also logical as on the 1901 census she is at 21 Queens Grove. I will now follow up your other suggestion.
  10. Yes thanks I have got that one. I just wonder who Sarah and Frank Wood were. She named another son born 1902 Frank. After that Frank I wonder??
  11. Here is the census I found for Ernest Harvey 1911. The address not shown here is Fort Blockhouse, Alverstoke, Gosport, Hants.
  12. Thanks. I reckon that is the same Ernest Harvey that I have found at Fort Blockhouse, but I only have the census info. There is one word on there that leads me to believe that it is the Ernest Harvey I am looking for - Platelayer. If his Father, like the rest of Mary Harvey's offspring's was William Cumberpatch, he may for a while have followed in his fathers footsteps as he was a platelayer on the railways too.
  13. #15. I am assuming that Ernest Harvey was born Somewhere in a circle Flintham, Kneeton and and somewhere dahnt Medders. If the 1911 census discovery I made yesterday is him, it does say that he was born in Nottingham
  14. #12. Done that one thanks. It is quite likely a relation but off to one side so I am not considering it at the moment.
  15. No. The Mary Harvey in the workhouse is no relation to me. My G Grandmother Mary Harvey was born Mary Harvey and died Mary Harvey ie she never married. She is the one born at Flintham. I have every record for her, Birth cert., death cert, whereabout in 1947 year before she died at 93 Melbourne Road and every census 1871-1911 except 1891. She gave birth to an illegitimate Ernest in 1888 who I cannot find a birth record for either. It is the period 1888-91 that is a missing piece of the jigsaw. I have I believe now found Ernest on the 1911 census as being a stoker in the Navy living at Fort Bloc
  16. Wierd! Some time ago I wrongly ordered a death certificate for Mary Harvey who turned out to be a widow of Alan Harvey 31 Oxford Street This is it:
  17. Still having difficulty in locating My Great Grandmother Mary Harvey and her eldest son Ernest on the 1891 census. The nearest I have found is this one in the Basford Workhouse. Thanks to Ancestry free at the mo'. Question is, would she have been allowed or even been able to keep her 3 year old son with her in a workhouse? Also are the two dittos below Mary Harvey there just because they are also Harvey or are they dittoed because they are to do with Mary Harvey. Any suggestions folks? Also, Mary Harvey here says she was born at Bulwell but my Mary Harvey was born at Flintham - but how much
  18. Thanks for that. I use FreeBMD a lot but I hadn't heard of the other two.
  19. How much does basic membership cost on there? I haven't spent much time this weekend looking at that sort of thing but all I can see is just short of £100 per year. I have not been on Ancestry for a long time and I must say it has improved somewhat since last time I tried to use it.
  20. Unfortunately it won't let you look at other peoples trees for free
  21. Yes that was adjacent to where Bob Dunn lived.
  22. Just thought about that again and it was Ted Rose not Roe!
  23. Did your dad ever play the piano at the White Lion, Brinsley early-mid 70's?
  24. Kinoulton seems to be a nice quiet peaceful place whenever I go there.
