Yes, it’s a maze. I’ve not been in for many years. The Lincoln Debenhams is a much better modern store - if it’s still there!
-
I always got lost in Griffin and Spalding's. Not a shop to easily get out of if there was a fire!

Was aware of the name Phil, just couldn't bring myself to appreciate it. Not after seeing my sons open coffin in there.
Yes, I understand how you must feel BK. My mother was upset when we took her there for lunch, quite innocently, and she remembered that’s where here brother was taken to.

It was called "Mr. Haddock" when it was a fish and chip restaurant and very good it was too. They also had another outlet in The Ossington building on Beastmarket Hill in Newark.

I was about to make one of my usual banal remarks until I realised that one of our religious members (did I just say ‘members’?) will be along to quote the definitive passage from the book of Genesis.

No, the beard! I’ve done narrowboating, it’s horrendously expensive.
-
How much did it cost?

The actual dead tennis player live on stage tonight?

I used to go to Mitchell Farm Services there for horticultural stuff. They were Massey Ferguson dealers. There was also a company where I bought fork lift trucks, Servatruck possibly?

Really liked that film being a former Mini driver. Must make an effort to watch it again!

I’m not sure being ‘avid’ is part of a relaxation technique but each to their own!

There can be a psychosomatic link between psoriasis and other skin conditions. Perhaps if you tried relaxing and chilling out more it might help. Just a suggestion I throw into the ring Col!

Moving in the right direction politically as well Col?
That may be the underlying cause of the problem!

No, much further up towards the City centre on the RHS just above Boden St. It was attached to the original mill factory, since demolished.

Was that Jersey Kapwood's offices at one time?

Yes, it was originally Derby Aviation who bought Mercury Airlines, Manchester and then changed their name to British Midland.
-
I remember Derby Airways back in the early 60's. They operated Dakotas out of a grass airfield at Burnaston. My father sometimes used to send me there (I had just passed my driving test) to put parcels on the plane to Dublin. I could park right next to the aeroplane, weight the parcels on a scale and pass them up to the pilot. Couldn't do that now!

Sitting, trying to be incognito in the corner of the bar and coughing, is going to be a giveaway!

Perhaps the mysterious 'they' who ostensibly run this site should be able to gauge the feelings and do something about it.
-
So are many of us but we can just put the irritants on ‘ignore’. They still clog the site up with their incessant postings but you don’t have to read them. Ignore them and they might go away!

Was your maiden name Burton, Jill? Elijah had a proper sized Victorian family, Ivy, Lilian, Wilfred, Edith, Beatrice, Raymond, Hector, William Robert, my uncle. Can you relate to any of those?
-
No, she was an only child. If you look for Eleanor Lockwood on Facebook you will see she left NGHS in 1962 which would be right and although obviously much older she looks vaguely like I remember her.
-
I tracked her down on Facebook. Says she got married in 2012 so that must have been her second time at least. Her hair is the same colour as mine - which is nice.

What do you mean, Phil, "least said the better"? We want to know all about it!
She was a sweet girl. I have an unblemished past.

Pearsons were one of my old firm's audit clients back in the 60's. If you thought it was a rabbit warren in the shop you should have seen it backstage! They bought the old AB Gibson premises and it eventually went through to Parliament St.
