Good idea! I wouldn't fall out with anyone because of their political views. I like to hear the debate from both ends of the political spectrum. I hold rightish wing views on some topics but I can be quite socialist when it comes to such things as privatisation of basic industries. I've always thought that a sensible compromise can be reached through sensible and considered discussion. I don't hold with either political or religious dogma. I'm usually right though.

I am!

A political discussion would be good but Col's left wing views are pretty much in agreement with my right wing's.

They’re not but it adds spice to the discussion!

Yes, they’re of the same ilk. Presumably the litter problem, should there be one, will have to be sorted by the landowner and not the taxpayer. I hope they leave the site clean and tidy and that they will be welcomed back next year when the pubs and shops will be open and local businesses with thrive on their patronage.

It takes Nottingham city council nearly a week to clear the Forest of rubbish after the Goose fair

That’s because fairground people tend to come from the ‘travelling community’.

We call it graffiti over here. Criminal damage, maximum fine £5,000. 'Graffiti' sounds Italian don't you think?

I think he was the passenger. I don’t believe he’s got his licence back yet. I’ve just checked and I see that car failed its MOT last month. Took his eye off the ball there!

I guess you’re right. Alan Hardy’s house, which I pass almost daily, isn’t up for sale yet!

South Africa. A highly corrupt country, much like most of Africa really. Transfer deals and agents’ fees will be interesting!

Who are the ‘new owners’?

Let's just see if the site is cleaned up before they depart. That will show whether they're responsible members of the community. I reserve my judgement.

A two thirds majority, even if only decided by one vote, is more representative of opinion than a 50/50 decided by one vote.

Indeed yes! Would you buy tinned salmon though when you can get fresh? It’s probably easier to conceal in your coat pocket if it’s in a tin

Our daughter has currently moved back in with us and works from home. We have a stream of delivery vans daily and know the drivers by name. Also there are a similar number of returns sent back through the Post Office!

I'm not a socialist but I think that privatisation of such an essential industry was wrong.

Most of us are angry and annoyed about the Brexit situation and the country is divided as much as Parliament. Without getting into politics I think that the referendum should be rerun and decided on a decisive majority, say two thirds. With the way that the referendum was set up last time the vote could have gone either way, theoretically on just one vote.

Just checked and that's almost in line with inflation so it wasn't cheap even then.

My right hip actually Rog! I was sent for an x-ray and after 8 weeks the surgery confirmed I had arthritis. I could have told them that! They suggested physio initially and the physiotherapist ‘phoned me and then emailed me a list of excercises. That was three months ago and I’ve heard nothing more so far. I suppose the ball’s in my court to go on the 19 week waiting list for a ‘transplant’.

There is yoga in our village hall twice weekly. Perhaps the lady in charge could try and manipulate me.

Last time I had an ingrowing toenail I performed the surgery on myself. Quite a lot of blood was spilt but the problem was cured. I doubt I have the flexibility to do a diy job now as I’m no longer able to assume the lotus position. At one time, as a party trick, I could put a leg round the back of my neck. I broke wind the last time I tried that though - much to the amusement of the dinner party guests!

Yes, the ‘silly short season’ will soon be with us. I never wear shorts because of the nettles

ASOS - ‘as seen on screen’. Our daughter used to work for them in advertising and publicity when she lived in London. They’re based in Camden. It’s a hugh organisation. Their distribution warehouse is somewhere up north near Barnsley.

Well it is a time consuming, labour intensive and expensive way of construction. A bit of a relic from the past I think.
Cheap tickets to Notts County anybody?

He's got 17 points on his licence now. Perhaps he could add them to Notts County’s and keep them up.!
