  1. It’s so heart breaking. It makes you wonder if by cutting her life support off are they trying to save money and wages. Her parents must be going through hell. A little while ago it seemed as everything was being put into Italy’s hands but once again it’s NO. Giorgia Meloni has asked for some convention AIA to intervene but once again UK high court has given its answer. Not quite sure what the latest is but think they’ve even said she can’t go home to die. It seems that they The Powers that be have no feelings and hearts of stone.

How does the saying go “ where there’s life there’s hope.  “. Today an Italian reporter was interviewing the father and he said they knew of 2 people one in Canada and the other in Germany that had the same illness and one was already 30 yrs old.

im sorry I’ve gone on about it but practically the whole of Italy have adopted this tiny girl. Haven’t these courts got guilty consciences. How many times has this story gone forward only to take a dozen steps back.

  2. BP I think does naturally increase in a medical situation. Whenever I went for chemo it was always up and they had to make me wait or give me a tablet to reduce it. Then I bought a monitor. I used to park my car and wait a while then check BP. If it was up I’d sit and wait. Sometimes from the car park into oncology was quite a way so I’d go early and sit and wait my turn. It worked well as I’d really relaxed. Here BP is measured 120/80 and mine is nearly always  correct. (When I check it)

  3. I’ve been getting winter fuel allowance etc but its been so little £10 that it doesn’t go anywhere. Whether this is just a token for leaving uk I don’t know so will have to wait and see when I check my uk bank account

( which isn’t a thing I do regularly its just there to collect some small pensions) so not worth it.

  4. Just a while ago on news they said that UK government had refused but a debate that followed said there may be a slight possibility that she could come here. Hope that’s true. The hospital in Rome is supposed to be the best for child care. They have had quite a few almost hopeless cases and were able to save the babies. Hope you are right Brew I’m stuck on news for updates.

  5. How can the uk government refuse the appeal of Indi’s parents to bring her to Italy to attempt to save her life. They shouldn’t interrupt the appeal as Indi is now an Italian citizen.
The reporters now on the news are so upset about it and a few newsreaders are in tears. How can they do this when the parents want to take her to Italy surely it’s the parents decision not the government.

  6. I’ve never been to Cleethorpes and didnt go  to Skeggy until I was 17 and belonged to a hiking club. We had our honeymoon in Scarborough , as kids we stayed in a chalet in Cayton Bay.

Our friends have a motor home and go away every weekend. A few years ago they came to visit and parked not far from us in an agriturismo and van park. Everything was fine until they were leaving and caught the roof on an angle they hadn’t seen The van was new so lots of disappointment. I’m afraid now a days I like my comfort. I spent my childhood camping in a tent. My dad was a scout master and didn’t believe in hotels.

Never been referred to as the Late Loppy before.  Bit scary for an old dog.

You are not old Loppy you are a mature gentleman and happy birthday to you albeit very late. We are all getting there , some quicker than others but we are a good stock.

  8. Brew I too have bought from Temu and yes the goods are mostly Chinese , some good some bad and some to throw away. I have found many household items that I’ve never seen anywhere and albeit Chinese they are well made. A lot depends what you order.  I saw a jacket and a jumper I liked but was hesitant about ordering them . In the end I did order , the jumper is beautiful and comfortable at only €4. The jacket went back and waited for a refund which arrived immediately. Another cardigan similar to the jumper was too big so asked for refund but they said “ keep it” so I did but it still doesn’t fit me. I think that it doesn’t pay them to send unwanted items back. Anyway I like it but as you say they push too much but at least you can block them.

  9. My nephew is an influencer. I don’t think he’s more than 16-17 but if he’s not a millionaire now he soon will be.He has the gift of the gab in an unusual way and is charming with it. I’ve just watched a video of him in Milan , I think it was. He is in an area surrounded by thousands of people . Adults as well as youngsters asking for his autograph and having selfies with him. Don’t know how but he did a video using products from TEMU to refit his brothers room. He recommends so many IT and technical products  probably what the kids want. Apparently he earns more than his dad , who is a dentist. His videos are amazing to watch although it makes me dizzy.

  10. Jill the first time I came here to meet my future in-laws there were various things I said I didn’t like or wouldn’t try. Parmesan being one of them and cheese in general. My son when he was small used to pinch spoons full of Parmesan put on the lunch/ dinner table and wondered how he could like it. But living here I’ve become more adventurous in my tastes and have a love of most things. But it’s since I’ve been here that I realize just how good Italian food is.
I really hated cheese but when my neice in France died in an accident I went to stay with her parents for a while. Cheese was forever on the table and I was to sensitive to say I didn’t like it. Going home I took so much cheese with me. I’d got used to it and even now love the Italian cheeses.

If I found a truffle in the street I would have no idea what it was. I'd probably just kick it into the gutter as some kind of random rubbish.

NOOOOO THEY ARE WORTH THOUSANDS. They don’t look nice and they don’t smell nice but when they are thinly shaved on top of food it’s a different experience. This truffle fair is for 9 days and you can’t walk in Alba it’s jam packed. Just seen the local news interviewing people from all over the world. Including English .

  12. Careful Brew. Sorry to hear of your mishap. We are mostly at an age where we have to look twice where we are going. I have an awful habit of walking around in the semi darkness at night and my husband shouts at me for it. Where we live we have no street lights so we do have night lights where necessary but it’s not always I move where they are.
Here’s to a quick recovery you be careful now.

  13. British accents. I don’t think you ever lose them. There are so many provinces here that have awful accents and dialects. Tuscany is one I love as is also Sicilian but that’s a language all of its own. My family take the mickey when I say “ mi “ instead of “me” which I do occasionally.

Well BK it needn’t think it’s coming here. We’ve got brilliant sun and it’s warm.
Seriously we have problems in Italy as well. Tuscany is in a terrible state.  They say it’s traveling North  we’re keeping our fingers crossed. I have to say though that we are extremely lucky we seem to miss the worst of the bad weather. Maybe because the mountains shield us a bit.

the fee for license is that. I don’t know what it covers but wouldn’t be surprised if part of it didn’t go into his pocket. A couple of years ago when the hospital discharged me in oncology after 12 yrs and various exams including periodical endoscopy, my gastroenterologist said “ well after a good many years I won’t see you again because I’m going into pension” .  He’s still working so no doubt that goes into his pocket. €250  a visit not bad for a pensioner is it.

  16. Been to have my test for renewal of driving license. It expires the end of November. It’s not really a proper test a quick eye test of 3 letters per eye repeating whispered words and that was it. Paid €110 and when the license arrives by post it’s registered and that’s another €6. 80. It got me thinking does UK charge to renew driving licenses.

  17. Not a scam but just a warning to us. We ordered 2 Oyster Cards online for the visit to London in December. We asked for tracking and waited for delivery. We did receive a scam letter but realised it was a scam but a few days later came the real thing.

€29.66 please said the courier. The discussion went on a while and the delivery boy rang the sorting office and said that we shouldn’t be paying anything. She told us to ring next day and in the meantime she would check. I did a research and discovered that anything tracked has to go through customs, so it’s customs duty. Now if we hadn’t asked for tracking it would have come in a plain envelope like English CC arrive to us from U K but these cards came in a brown envelope with a big label with various stickers and hand written numbers.. So much for trying to save on tube, train and bus fares and of course long queues for various sights. So these cards have cost quite a bit and a warning , a repeat warning that I promised myself a while ago, not to buy anything else from UK. Thanks once again Brexit. You’ve really upset a lot of Brits living abroad.
