Hang on a sec....I can't see the picture any longer; it's vanished?! No, wait...it's back. What the flip is going on?
Dunno Compo quite a few of us are seeing pics intermittently. I thought my settings had changed with an automatic update but everything is as it should be so no idea...

On a call out one night I came across what I thought was a garden ornament some little devil had nicked and stuck in the middle of the road. I got right up to it intending to move it when it took a stab at me. Frightened the life out of me, it was a real Heron and as you say BK they have some beak on 'em

Why do you think it OK to make disparaging remarks about others interests? You know what the contents are so why look if you're not interested. If there are things you have read and don't don't agree with, post it there not in the general forum. What good does sniping from the sidelines do?
I think some of the music posted here is truly awful... but I keep my opinions to myself. If that's what some like fine and me whinging and whining about it adds nothing useful or interesting.
Didn't someone a while back post something about live and let live?

I've been told they do this to stop anyone ordering the items when they are out of stock but need to keep the advert 'live'

I have a plan. I'm having a couple of days off the numerous moisturisers I've been trying, but have decided to put up with the slightly unpleasant effects of Cinnarizine. ( Anti histamine) for a few days. If this helps I'll have learned something. Also in my plan is laying off the booze for a few days to see if that helps.
Pleased it's all under control Col, you had me a bit concerned there for a moment. Hope you soon suss it out...

2. I like a drink and I'll freely admit to drinking well above the guidelines. This is also cited as a possible cause of the itch.. but then again now they've pretty much dealt with smoking.. the powers that be need another 'enemy' to blame for all ills.. and it seems the booze is it. Thing is.. right now is not the ideal time to lay off the booze as it's probs all that's getting me any sleep!!!
I'm not a doctor so this may be total cobblers but the above statement would worry me if I were.
Like most here I had never heard of GS and looked it up. I suspect you know far more than I but to me it seems the elephant you are ignoring (or excusing) is booze. When you start to say you need it because 'XYZ' then I begin to wonder about dependency. The first thing someone who has an alcohol problem is to deny it and give, what is to them a good excuse, for the amount they drink.
.
You say your drinking is WELL above the guidelines so I have no doubt it will help you sleep but let's face it - you shouldn't need it.
Like me with smoking, it was never the right time to quit, there was always a good reason to delay...
This may be rubbish but stopping the drinking looks to be the only thing you've not tried. Maybe it's worth giving it a go for a while

Well I can see it, looks a lot like a place in Holland I visited just outside Amsterdam last summer.

I've always had back trouble - getting the bugger of the mattress mainly.

The Horse fair took place without any problems and the site was left in a clean state.
Good I'm glad but you can understand peoples misgivings when you read of the problems they created at Kenilworth and Kirkby Stephen. One swallow does not a summer make, let's hope they continue in the way they have started and maybe it will be a benefit and not a curse.

The 'print screen' facility can and does capture things the computer 'sees' but is not always visible to you if your screen is not using the default screen size settings. The border I have no idea about.
I suggest lying down in a darkened room with a large slice of chocolate cake till you feel better..

Sounds a good idea but if they weren't such mucky buggers in the first place and took their own rubbish away there wouldn't be any need.

Oh dear that really goes against the grain, you'll be starting a splinter group next and opening branches everywhere. I bet you're a Forest supporter too

All true, the difference is they are all organised, authorised and the clear up costs are covered. Hopefully the same applies to the J26 fair.

What is this nonsense? You'll be telling me next that a boomerang that doesn't come back is just a stick and that picket fences are not made from pickets?

From what I gather political discussion is not allowed after a vote by members. That was apparently some years ago and by people who for the most part no longer post.
Like the Brexit leavers would have it one vote casts the decision in stone. The result can never be questioned, challenged or asked again - really? that's democracy is it?
The problem is a rerun is likely to be close and even if the decision changes we will still have a divided forum/nation with one side saying "ya boo suck it up and live with it" and the losers crying foul we want another go..

Let's just see if the site is cleaned up before they depart. That will show whether they're responsible members of the community. I reserve my judgement.
If they turn out to be so then I'll readily say 'welcome and come again'..

I doubt anyone will have a problem if it really is a traditional fair 'ala Goose fair.
If it's a traditional let's roaring drunk and smash the pub up, burgle and steal anything not actually nailed down, race horses up and down the public roads, threaten anyone with the temerity to object then yes I think it safe to say they are not welcome.
Let's see Goose fair, organised, authorised, crime quite low for such a large event and a good time had by all.
J26 fair - I would think the police have access to more information than Joe Public and their advice to businesses and residents - be alert, lock up and stay shut...
