  1. Anyone know when this new road will be open? I guess they will 'pedestrianise' most of the High Street?
  2. You must be a female version of Quasimodo - happy bell ringing. I'm sure that Victor Hugo would have been impressed!
  3. Great photos. You must have been hovering over market square for the socond pic. I guess you avoided shelling out for a pay-and-display ticket!
  4. Susyshoes - where is the 'second bit' of this road?
  5. Just incredible how high Sue's hot air balloon can rise. The curvature of the earth is really noticeable!
  6. Ben - I was referring to the M1 extension from Annesley down to Hucknall - this was planned 50 years ago but was never completed. Nottingham City Council will be able to impose a 'city' congestion charge when the project is complete. It should give a boost to the economy in Hucknall - you know - fast-food stalls, tram guides and car washes. I bet you can't wait!
  7. Iandawson - I wasn't having a poke at Hucknall - it is just so long since I parked in the town. In the past I never had problems parking - Green Dragon, Blue Boar, Welfare - never any silly ticket machines or stolen wheels (ha ha). However susyshoes has mentioned that they are currently extending the M1 from Nuthall to Hucknall and this is 'well on its way'. An out-of-towner needs some guidance!
  8. Google Maps is probably well out of date now the bypass has been started. Anyone know the safest place to park in the evening?
  9. Susyshoes - thanks for the insider information on local venues. I remember the Plough in the 90s and a few of the regular visitors. I will give H20 a try!!
  10. Annesley road always seems to be a pain. There are now roadworks at the Annesley Business Park island - gives me problems everyday. On a lighter note - I must organise a nostalgic evening tour of Hucknall with some old friends. I guess the town has changed drastically since I was last there. Any places to really avoid?
  11. Nabbs Lane - now correct me if I am wrong - but wasn't that road about three miles long in the seventies? I caught the school bus from Nuthall to Nabbs Lane (F4 if I remember correctly). Great planning by Notts County Council - bus kids for four miles then make them walk three miles. I could never understand why we were not allowed to stay on the bus - Sandy Lane, Common Lane, Hillcrest Drive - ending right behind the school. Nabbs Lane was reduced in length by NCC just after I left school - it is now only about a half-mile long. I remember someone who dressed like Gary Numan - I think at t
  12. I didn't live in Hucknall, but I vividly remember learning to swim at the Swimming pool. Chlorine - an interesting substance!
  13. I have heard there is no wine in this place anyway! I guess it will be the Hutt again tonight for me and my Beau.
  14. ... Hucknall and Mansfield ladies very pretty .. Actually recent DNA research has proved that this is true. It is due an aberration of the local gene pool that has been traced back to the 12th century. Having said that, a few drinks evens everything up. Apologies for the picture - I am not advocating an unhealthy lifestyle! Ooh.. that is reminding me of A-level Biology and German ... the name phonetically Nan-ker-ville. I was once informed that this woman was fluent in the German language. I replied that this was not really a surprise since she was born in Frankfurt.
