Had a friend, Robert crooks, lived on Sherwood villas, who was mad into electronic stuff. Sure he used to read it, he used to buy his stuff from the wireless shop in between the Clinton arm's and the YMCA, don't know the name of it. It was over 50yrs ago!!

Ah, that's how I remember it. The chimney on the right is the 450 footer that I worked on. Not really "super size" power station wise! Castle donnington was 650ft, ratcliffe on soar 625, so just a baby really. Thanks ian for the info.

What about those plastic sandals that wore away rather quickly if you had a scooter, well one of them did anyway!!. I think they had a name but not sure.

Moral's go out of the window when your 17 and skint, and I would think that the chap should have brought someone who was a bit savvy to check out the motor, the same as I should have done! All part of life's learning curve!.
