  1. Nice to visit,/ holiday, but to tell the truth, I never really went a lot on folk's there. It was expensive as well to live there. Saying that, I did use to enjoy a bike ride to Yarmouth at the weekends.

  2. Thanks for that, never went in the dale so would not have inadvertently bumped into him. Couple of other Guy's I remember at school were, John Rudd, Derek Goldsworthy, Clifford Seddon, can't remember any more at the moment. But when I do, i will post them on here.

  3. To be honest, I can't remember if Terry's nickname was titch, but I can remember chopping my index finger off whilst adjusting the cone's on his fixed wheel bike!! That stung a bit! And I still have the crooked finger to show for it. They didn't do a very good job of stitching it back on. As for Steve not sure if he had a brother, but he was a big lad and I think he lived in a newsagents or sweetshop, something like that.

  4. Hi Michael and welcome to the site, I was at the same school but it was later, it was Roland Green then. Most of the teachers were still there, and Jake had progressed to the cane!! . I am sure Denshaw will be able to give you more information when he See's the post, he has a better recollection about the school than me, that is until my memory gets jogged. I used to hang around with Terrance Ashley, he lived just off Wilford rd near Turner's the Chip shop, also Keith Brown, Steve Walters lived in the same area.

  5. I am in total agreement with all the above comments, if climate change is down to Johnny money bag's and Polly pretty pants driving around in range rover's, what caused it 2.5 million years ago?. And how doe's charging an absolute fortune for anything "green" clean the air? Do they use the money as some sort of magic air purifier? And how will driving around in electric car's be better? Have you seen what goes into making those battery's?. I suppose when the petrol dries up, we will have electric planes as well, to go on our long haul flights NOT!!. I have not heard anything remotely convincing yet about our super "green" future, perhaps someone on here can convince me.( but I doubt it)

Never had a proper 'train set' myself but I love seeing the big layouts.  There used to be one at Alton Towers way back in the early '60s.. long before all the fancy rides etc.  My Grandson has never seen a steam train in action,

I remember the setup at Alton towers I always thought it was great. Take your grandson to Loughborough, load's of train's or come to rushcliff Holt at east leaks he will see the steam train's there as well.

  7. Ok , don't know if I am on the right topic here, but here goes. With all this talk of going Green and saving the planet, got me thinking. Here in Nottingham we get our Lecky mainly from Ratcliff on soar power station. That's running at about 90% capacity most of the time !. Its got a short stay of execution of about 12 yrs ! Now Mr and Mrs treehugger wants us all to go electric, transport wise, where is the extra Lecky coming from to power the cars, trams, trains, industry and domestic requirements ?. Also how do the folk's in high rise buildings charge their vehicles? Methinks that I will be Lucky enough not to be around when the Nottingham city council come up with the idea that every household has to provide its own generator or else be punished with a life sentance or worse.
