  2. Red, its not curry powder that makes it hot, its chilli, either fresh or powdered.

I doubt that any Asian restaurant uses a curry powder mix, they use individual spices.

There, thats me Madhur Jaffrey bit over!

You learn something everyday - i always thought a curry powder was a mixture of spices.

    Don't Google "curry powder mix"

  3. Must admit done the hot Curry's when i was 18 & out with the lads even though you could taste fcuk all but curry powder .

Now i tend to go for spice & taste with a small bit of fire .

    Summat was open in Kimberley....wow

Not sure of the pubs name but the one opposite The Gate on the corner was rammed out.

Quite pleased to see Dillingers was closed down .

  4. Simla in Kimberley was placed in the Top 10 UK curry houses via The Guardian , anyone been ?

Top marks to The Simla in James Street Kimberly took my chance did not book got the last table for 2 @ about 9pm , looked like most where having the set meal , 1st off complementary poppadoms chutney tray / chopped onion / lime pickle , after seeing the size of the starters a meal in its self went straight for the main event went for chefs specialties chicken karahi Mrs Red rogan josh & 1 garlic nan .

After 20min just managed to finish it shared nan half touched well & truly pegged out , parted with 30 quid .

Noticed the table of 4 where on the set menu when they brought out the main course they could have done with another table there was no where to put it all , shocked to see they did all clear there plates even after the humongous starter.

Not being a big eater i would have properly had not have gone if i had been told about the size of portions , but it gets 5 stars from me .

And I've woken up fine not a trump in sight .

  5. Not seen no gallery or portraits , but on the 1st floor landing above the main entrance there's two 6/7 foot x 4/5 foot memorials the one on the left as you go to the offices is 1914-18 with probably 200 names on it & the department they worked in , on the opposite side where the dentist / doctor / nurse is there's a 1939/45 Memorial with at a guess about 300 names on it .

On Remembrance Day / Armistice Day there's always something placed in reception .

  6. The Blue Bell on Upper Parliament Street, with its nicotine-stained wallpaper, little nooks and crannies, brewery mirrors, patterned carpets and heavy chintz curtains !

Not now ! and its cleverly changed its address to Forman Street - from the flyer i had thrust into my hand by some spotty student last night.

"The Blue Bell refreshment emporium & lounge - A wonderous new establishment on Forman Street opposite Revolution @ the corner house enjoy iconoclastic food & beverages in a most unusual setting till late "

  7. After listening every women who have just come back to work from meternity leave , every break , every tea bar , phoning there Mum , "has he ate his/her yogurt / rusk / had his/her bottle" i would give them 5 years off with full pay .

I'm sure half these kids must think there Grandma & Grandad are there Mum & Dad .

  8. I've only seen a small clip on Jonathan Ross & no plans to see the film ( the last film i watched was back in 1984 electric dreams @ the Savoy )

But the book by David Peace was the best book i read last year , and possibly the best football book i have ever read. You really feel like you get into his head and start to feel the panic and hopelessness of his situation.

The 'dual time' mode of writing is very effective. Best chapter for me is the one where is takes his first training session and tells the players who have just won the league that they can throw their medals away!

    The Trailer looks as good.
