Compo 10,328
Well that's the strawberries done for the year. Now to peg out runners for a new batch. At this time of year we get 24hrs daylight and that, coupled with keeping them in a greenhouse, ensures an early crop and time to set runners for new plants. Soft fruits do well in Scotland. If you take a look at their variety names you will find loads of Scottish sounding varieties.
StephenFord 866
Remember it well from O-level Geography. ISTR the Carse of Gowrie was cited as having a particularly advantageous position and climate, though I know you are a long way farther north than that.
littlebro 234
The Clan Fraser has strawberries in their crest - alleged to have brought the strawberry to Scotland from France - hence the name, Fraise is French for Strawberry http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.scotclans.com/img/scottish_clans/fraser/crest_big.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.scotclans.com/scottish_clans/clan_fraser/crest.html&h=407&w=412&sz=47&tbnid=umNoWtkkJvIs7M:&tbnh=90&tbnw=91&zoom=1&usg=__KjgOlKTBxD3OLLIs5nyOcWgrfQ4=&docid=D3krBV--bW8XrM&sa=X&ei=pRLMUZuUH8aZ0AWRgYH4DQ&sqi=2&ved=0CEwQ9QEwBQ&dur=6133
