Limey 242
One of the ugliest aircraft I have ever seen - and it is hard to make an airplane ugly! But, what is it?
DAVIDW 1,708
Its a Northrop Raider , first version flew in 1946 as the Northrop Pioneer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northrop_YC-125_Raider
Limey 242
Correct! I had never seen one before, hardly surprising given how few were built!
fch782c 144
Another that fell out of the ugly hanger was the Auster sorry cant get it any bigger
Beefsteak 305
Looks a bit like the Junkers JU-
Trevor S 2,003
fch782c, your Auster was probably ugly by design. It was a purpose built crop duster, the Agricola, which could carry 3/4 of a tonne of fertiliser or, approximately 700 litres of liquids for spraying aerial spraying. Most of the crop dusters out here in Oz are of the ugly design with the pilot sitting up high on top of his load.Normal Austers were a little more graceful and very popular with flying schools in the late 50s....http://www.google.com.au/search?q=auster&biw=1920&bih=888&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=p4rgUYWjIYP1iQffjYG4AQ

I haven't seen one yet but I'm assured they'te around.
