The Pianoman 1,535
Was doing some family history research some months ago and this took me to Flintham and Kneeton churchyards to find Harvey graves. I wasn't disappointed as I found some in each. However, while I was in Kneeton churchyard there was a man mowing the grass, he asked me who I was looking for, I told him 'Harvey' and he pointed out that the fields across the back of Kneeton church were known as Harvey's Fields. I wonder if anyone can shed any light on who this Harvey was and why it is known as Harvey's fields. The vast majority of my Harvey ancestry throughout the 1800's were involved in farming and were all born in Flintham, Kneeton and Newark but they were not landowners. (so far as I can see). My surname is Harvey of course. Any info appreciated.
Cliff Ton 10,498
The name doesn't seem to appear on any maps, so I guess it was an informal thing used by the locals. In the 1880s...... pick a number, any number. Presumably they are Mr Harvey's fields.
