DaveN 1,118
Does anyone know when Carrington Brewery closed and when pulled down? Thanks for any assistance.
MELTONSTILTON 452
Here is a link to old Notts Brewerys, it may help.... http://www.nottsheritagegateway.org.uk/themes/brewing.htm
DaveN 1,118
Hi, Thanks for the link but I've already checked out that site and although it mentions that Shipstones took over Carrington brewery it doesn't mention about the closure. Thanks anyway!
Cliff Ton 10,479
Looking at Old Maps and other places, I'd guess the building was demolished some time in the late 1940s / early 1950s. New buildings are on the site by the mid 50s.
DaveN 1,118
Thanks! I know it was still on the map that I've got for 1911 but not sure what happened after that. Your info is appreciated and helps to narrow it down.
DaveN 1,118
Just found there were shops on the site in 1951 so I presume the brewery was demolished in the late 40's as you said Cliff Ton.
Cliff Ton 10,479
These are the buildings which now occupy the site; they certainly have a bit of a 50s look about them. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.972412,-1.15231,3a,75y,327.13h,86.2t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sFAUWiVMEA-iGIobnxnkP7w!2e0?hl=en I'd not been aware of the Carrington Brewery before, but the location of the New Inn (which has survived many years) seems to indicate that it might have been the brewery's "home" pub. DaveN 1,118
I saw it on a map I bought from Waterstones yesterday (it was 1913 and not as I previously said). It's part of a series from alangodfreymaps covering Nottingham North (inc Mapperely and Carrington) - an old Ordanance Survey map and only £2.50 for each map (I ended up buying 8 of different areas of Nottingham!)
