rob237 89
b] Would it be this one Frank at Eastwood.[/b] It is the pub where, in 1844, a meeting was held to create the Midland Railway. A plaque to mark the event is on the wall. "...The Sun Inn played an important part in the history of the Midland Railway. A sign is exhibited on the outside of the Inn proclaiming that it is 'the birthplace of the Midland Railway'. At least two meetings were held by local coal mine owners at the Inn to discuss the formation of a railway for the purpose of transporting the Erewash Valley coal to the Leicester market at a competitive price....." bamber 128
Off the top of my head I think it's a little alleyway just off Trinity Square.
Frank 13
Spot on Bamber - it's off Forman Street. It's so small it's no wonder I've passed it many times without realising. I'll nip down and take a pic with my new Nikon
