Sir Bobby Charlton

Recommended Posts

Sir Bobby was one of my childhood heroes, one who my father held in great esteem and he would often say to me 'You have to be able to kick a ball with both feet like Charlton'

It was this that first gave me an appreciation of his skill as a footballer but later I came to admire him for the way he conducted himself both on and off the pitch. A true giant of the game and one that modern players would do well to model themselves on.

R.I.P Sir Bobby

The only times that my wife came to the City Ground with me to watch Forest playing was when they played Manchester United, to see Bobby Charlton and West ham to see Bobbie Moore. Even today when she sees a 25 yard screamer burst the back of the net she says "That was a Bobby Charlton special".

249 goals for United and 49 for England. What would he be worth today?

He was the last survivor of the Munich air disaster that took so many of his United team mates.

RIP Sir Bob, thanks for the memories.
