I arrived on this forum serendipitously, via a google search for something else, but as I've always had an interest in local history, and this forum appears to be a very friendly place, I thought that I'd register and become part of it! I came to Nottingham in 1966, deliberately resisting acquisition of a local accent and refusing to absorb any of the local dialect!!! How the place has changed (mostly for the better) over those 42 years! I have now retired to hilly Woodthorpe, with many NCC years of endeavour in Education and Leisure Services behind me! I don't go in for 'forum banter' very much - I read it, smile at it but am seldom spurred into joining in with it! Too serious for my own good, some might say!
