IF the council, government, whoever! get their way and cut this cut that shut this shut that etc we'll be back to the 1950/60's lifestyle! I can't recall OAP homes, social workers, doctor's surgeries packed with women staff who don't seem to do anything, meals on wheels, "teaching assistants" or kids going to "school" aged 2 or whatever age today's new parents get them out of the way so they can work to afford 3 bathrooms and an "entertaining" area. Do remember reliable buses and trains, being able to get same day doctor's appointments, even home visits, free milk at school, school dinners, work's canteens, even employment exchanges, Progress? or the bad old days?

Got to pull you up a bit there Ash, our Charlotte went to 'School' (Sure Start actually) at the age of about 6 months, SWMBO had to stay with her though, basically this was from the age that they started to recognise things around them, and it was amazing seeing her doing the actions to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" before she could even speak!! Before she started nursery, at age 3, she could count to 20 and knew all her alphabet. At no time was it done to get her out of the house, so we could afford 3 bathrooms or whatever!! We found it gave her a tremendous start in life compared to our Adam who still can't count at the age of 3 years and 11 months as the local sure start couldn't fit him in !!

I agree with you on the rest of it though!!
