I have often wondered what this Hounds Gate bridge connects together. It doesn't appear to have been discussed in the forum before so does anyone have information about it, please?

The Bridge of Sighs, which spans Houndsgate and is seen here, connects the two portions of a great soft-goods warehouse and was erected in 1923.

The bridge connected the two building of James Snook & Co Ltd, wholesale soft furnishers, milliners, drapers etc. I worked there for a few months in 1962.

I wonder if the bridge was an addition to the buildings or if it was there by original design?
