  1. This will take me a little while to construct but give me a couple of days and see what happens. Ann
  2. I've a book with all sorts of facts in, I thrive on things like that, boring or what. I think you did very well to say you had to search for them and all I did was look down a list. How are you on Opera??? Ann
  3. O.K. The one for lightening is astraphobia and the one for ice is Kristallophobia. I was a bit unsure about that one but thats what it says in my book of do it yourself psychiatry. I think the one for worms should be wiggleyphobia, I can't stand them... A
  4. Do you remember Billy Bean and Torchy? That's dredging in the mud. A
  5. All I ever wanted when I was young was a train set and all I got was a soppy doll. Ilove trains but I am afraid they have all gone to pot, you couldn't beat the old steam trains and going on holiday from Victoria Station. A
  6. That is great, you only have two problems and they are ice and lightening. It may be they are known differently in your part of the world. Brontophobia is the fear of thunder so you are on the right track. You beat BIP to it but I can see I am going to have to come up with something better...... A
  7. Are you afraid of anything? Do you know the technical term from the everyday? Have a go, they all end in 'phobia' Fear of: Women Sea Sound Eyes Pleasure Ice Lightening Mice Worms Darkness Only ten this time, I wouldn't want you to become 'afraid' of Trivia. A
  8. I haven't been to Whitemoor for years, The last time I went was to buy a sewing machine from Beech Avenue and I think that is more likely Basford than Whitemoor. You can't take the memories though and I sure have plenty of those.... I am sure if we keep going we will find something we have in common, even if its only enjoying this Forum. Ann
  9. Peveril School was on Robinswood Road, still is under the name of Manning school for girls. She would have gone to Crane until she was 11 and then to Peveril until she left at 15/16. I left Peveril in 1959 which was a year before she would have started there. This makes me 61 this year so there is quite an age gap when talking about school. though we come from the same area we were in a different time warp. We used to go to Whitemoor club before we found out what pubs were for. Names I can remember from then are, Jean Whittaker, she had an elder brother called Jim. Jean Wood, Dave
  10. Now totally confused!! The only person that comes to mind is Eddie Cochran and I don't even know why!!! Was he American?? A
  11. Would there be a clue in your first posting?? Like his first name and the rest of the bands names or am I reading to much between the lines?? A
  12. Melbourne Road was about 50 yards from where I lived an Aspley Lane. Is she round about my age? Melbourne Park holds some very good memories for me. She should have memories of that as well!! People I can remember on Melbourne Road were the Dexters and the Baxters, Melbourne goes through to Nuttall Road and the Aspley Cinema, (later the Commodore Ballroom) I lived opposite the Salvation Army on the Lane, she may know that. Is she my age?? or is that a secret....and which scool did she attend, Crane or Peveril?? Ann PS Having a tipple sounds a good idea, it may possibly assist in si
  13. External Hard Drives retain their information for a lot longer than Discs of any description. The information stored has to last at least 7years for IR usage when they use them to gather information. A
  14. Did he play an instrument or just sing?? he looks familiar but I may be getting him mixed up with Harry out of Eatenders and the man who rode the motorbike in one of the TV progs, and the music used to be 'Hi Ho Silver lining'. Is it Edmundo Ross without his sleeves???? ITS MY AGE YOU KNOW.... A
  15. I went to Crane School until 1955 and then Peveril until I left school at 15 in 1959, now you know how ancient I am on the outside. The name doesn't ring a bell but perhaps if you tell me what region she lived that may strike a chord. My sister went to Crane as well so you have got two brains on the job, mind you she is older than me so we probably won't make a complete brain between us. Our name before we married was Staley, June is my sister and i'm known as Ann. The name Tutanic comes from trying to sign on in the dark, it was meant to be Titanic but I hit the wrong key and like the
  16. Did anyone go to either William Crane on Minver Crescent or William Peveril on Robinswood Road? (now The Manning School for Girls.) Peveril opened in 1955, while William Crane has recently closed its doors for the last time. A
  17. Don't know much about the Meadows, my sister lived there around 1967/68 on Kinglake Street. I think it was Kinglake Terrace she lived on. They then moved to Clifton when they redeveloped. A
  18. You could get into an argument any where you liked in Nottingham, it was all good fun. You could have a good argument and a bit of a punch-up and then shake hands and drink at the bar, this was the better way of doing things, it didn't get out of hand, most of the time. A
  19. Welcome to the site, enjoy...!! I used to live on Bobbers Mill Road in the late 60's, 1967 to be precise. If you were born in 1970 then you are the same age as my daughter. I also lived at Beechdale, on Felstead Road. Then we moved to Ilkeston in 1973 and stayed here ever since. Happy posting. A
  20. Do you recall the Bediga, it was above The Sleep Shop. As far as I can remember this was on the road to the left of the Council House, on the left hand side. Up some stairs and it opened out into just one big room where the decor left a lot to be desired. A
  21. That was Donald Peers. What did Archie Andrews used to appear in, was that Billy Cotton? A
  22. Do you remember Semprini Seranade or is that going too far back?? A

The site you refer to in your posting is: www.friendsreunited.co.uk There is a nominal charge for becoming a member. You certainly could find people you used to know, I did. The searches are done by person, street, school, etc. Happy searching !!! A
  24. Do any of you know who sang a song called The man from Nazareth. I don't think it is a religious song as the title infers, I have been told it was sung by Lorne Green but I thought he was the owner of the Ponderosa in Bonanza. Am I totally up the wrong path?? A
