Yes jill mrs maddison was a lovely lady unlike most of the other teachers there & she did have a prosthetic hand/arm which she always wore a black glove on, mrs hall left as head as i went into 3rd year or may have been 4th & a mrs margaret clark or clarke came in as head then, remember mr abbey music teacher now you have mentioned him, miss colthorpe(not colclough) you say she died recently she must have been quite an age as i would have swore she was at least 80 when i was there.

Barmy colleen great name for her jillin the winter she used to take her shoes off & put her feet in the bottom drawer of her desk, i'm sure she had a hot water bottle in there whilst we sat freezing our butts off in that cold draughty classroom, i remember mrs christie she taught me french & was my form tutor in the 4th year, cant recall ada barnes maybe didn't have her, i do remember miss greig, others i also remember are mrs hall : head miss colclough?: deputy head miss long: biology mr edgely: chemistry miss newlyn : history mrs darroch : needlework

Same here jill i hated every minute of every day at the place, its teacher & their teaching seemed so out dated compared to friends i had at other schools, i started there in 1R miss ramsden was she there when you were there? also had this irish maths teacher mrs davy who was barking mad & used to launch books or blackboard rubbers if she thought you were not listening.

  11. Thankyou for the info ct i'm sure we will get the hang of it in time & yes am trying to read some of the older stuff too hoping to add to it & stir up a few old memories of our. I have in fact just made a post in things our parents used to say, thanks again.

When i was a child my grandma had a big old sideboard in her front parlour as she called it which had a top drawer that was always locked, i used to ask her whats in here mamar & always got the same answer which was layers for meddlars, in other words none of your business, have never heard this saying again so just curious to know if anyone else has heard it & where it may come from.

  15. Firstly thankyou to all of the members for the warm welcome & for taking the time to read & reply to my posts, thought that i should give you all a bit more info about myself. Born 1963 at adcocks yard, russell st, radford which was my grandparents home where my parents lived with them after marrying, then moved to gamble st in 1965 when they got their own house after my younger sister was born, started school at raleigh st infants in 1968 & then windley juniors in 1970 1st at the old building then moving to the new building after a couple of years, In sept

  17. Yes i left nottingham in 1996 but am still a regular visitor as still have a lot of family there.

  19. Yes beekay sudbury prison, Inmates do a runner from there often & i think forton may be an open prison too.
