Stags relegation confirmed tonight after Chester picked up the point they needed to survive. Shame that, dont like to see any Nottinghamshire clubs dropping out the league, lets hope they make a speedy return.
  4. Can confirm The Star at Basford was locked up at 1:30 today when I stopped over although not boarded up, piles of rubbish in the car park to the side, the chalkboards on the outside look like they were written recently so its maybe a peak time pub for now.
  5. Im sure I once read in the local rag that the scene where Arthur fell top to bottom down the pub stairs was filmed at the now demolished Town Arms near the ice stadium?
  6. Brollies & wellies the order of the day and dont forget to wrap the kids up warm !sleeping!
  7. I seem to recall he also did a disappearing act while playing for Notts, think he went back to Scotland for a while. Didnt he used to live in Wilford Village in his playing days, somewhere near the church?
  8. There was defo a boxing ring Frank when the pub was featured on Bravo last year, not been in there since the 70s and it was a dive back then.
  9. Didnt Rudolf Diesel design the Diesel engine to originally run on peanut oil? he changed to Derv because it was cheaper than the oil back in the day. I was pulled up on Colwick Loop road in January and they tested my fuel with probes, I said I dont add veg oil or anything, they said no we are only testing for the use of red Diesel Sir...
  10. Eh! thats an idea, my mate's got a greasy spoon in Sandiacre, I'll give that some serious thought when its 2 quid a Litre in July !jumping!
  11. You are allowed by law to use 2500 litres of veg oil per year before duty is paid, thing is how do they prove it if youve used more? based on trust I guess. I run a diesel van but have never tried it, Ive heard all sorts of stories of sealings rings failing and unless its a Bosch fuel pump you are soon in for trouble, a mate of mine has been doing the different ratio's (summer/winter) for over a year, he started buying Aldi sunflower @ 50p a Litre, I think that is now close to a quid a Litre so there doesnt seem to be much of a saving, is it really worth it considering potential engine damage
  12. Sad state of affairs is that Maggie when you cant go for a quiet pint. When the Scots re-opened did they keep the boxing ring? used solely to iron out local disputes among the local riff raff. Was named last year within the top ten of Britains hardest pubs.
  13. The car in front that stops at every roundabout although its clear to see on approach there is no traffic on the island. Talking of headlights, why do people keep their foot on the brake pedal even on the flat road at traffic lights and almost blinding me, with modern cars having brake lights plastered all over the back of their cars. Toilet rolls where you cant open the beginning and end up with twenty sheets of shred. Young girls gobbing in the street every few steps they walk.
  14. The arrow on this map marks the spot but once again its not named. http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=45...mapp=newmap.srf
  15. No Frank its defo Avenue, its in one of my street maps, its also on google maps but its not named on there, its a strange one because the lady gave me the house number...
  16. Its right on the fork of Mansfield Road and Huntingdon Street. I have to carry out a quote on this road tomorrow and I cant contact the property owner, Ive checked the streetmap and Google but it appears to be a footway running up to Corporation Oaks, does anyone know if its possible to drive a vehicle up this avenue? maybe Frank who I know does work across the City, I notice that Cranmer Street runs across it. At a guess it looks very similar to Waterloo Promenade just off Forest Road. Any help appreciated.
  17. Didnt David Pleat the football pundit attend Mundella?...
  18. Yes...Hull City...well done Rob... won tonight at Barnsley to go into the automatics, maybe just maybe eh?
  19. hehehe... I loved them, we used to flatten baked bean tins to nail on the axles, some posh lads would cruise by with theirs carpeted...happy days before £1.16 a litre of diesel...
