  1. I lived arround the Carlton Road area in the late 1950's. I also remember making the trip to Colwick woods via the old railway line and I also remember a tunnel that lead from the old thorneywood station up to the Pads where Hogarh School at one time had it's football and cricket pitches. They built the new Hogarth School on that site. There was a brickworks there in the late fifties / early sixties. I remember the threats of the Skippos and stories of the old gang fights but never saw any. I remember climbing the cliffs at the mounts, one route was called the lion's head.
  2. Hello The shop with the tram in the window was 181 Carlton Road. You put a coin into the slot and the tram went up and down. The shop was a bit to the left of the two photos that were posted, being between Randalph Street and Leighton Street. There is another photo I have seen with the Turners bakey shop (which was on the corner of Randalph Street) on it. Next to that was the Methodist chapel, then there was a sweet shop, then a dry cleaners, then 181. My Father took the shop and acomodation on in 1959 and removed the tram.   3. Hello all, I was born in London but moved to Nottingham in about 1957 when I was in infants school. I lived near the March Hare on Carlton Road and when to The Hogarth Primary School and The Manvers Secondary School leaving ther in 1967. We moved to Hyson Green when they started to pull down the area between Saint Annes and Carlton Road and I moved to Mansfield in 1971 when I got married. I have no photos of the area and have lost contact with every I knew. Except that a few years ago i stopped for a drink at the March Hare and George Dove was still the Landlord.
