  1. Was he with her or was he by himself.(Yes I know Mick, where have I been)
  2. My first house on Grimston Road, Radfod, had an outside karzie, not pleasant if you had a call during the night, it was freezing.
  3. There was a recent rumour(2 years ago) that Brian May(Queen fame) had purchased a house on the A60 at Ravenshead. Not true. A case of `Chinese Whispers` That could well be the guitarist of which you speak.
  4. I have just picked up on this topic so I may as well have my two penneth, for what it is worth. Looking at the map of where the Folly is situated, it was somewhere where John Players packing case factory stood. I lived, for most of my childhood life on Knighton Avenue and only sold my parents house on there a couple of years ago. Knighton Ave and Radford Grove Lane formed a horseshoe shaped road from Churchfield Lane. No 1 Radford Grove Lane still exists and was the old farm house in its day. The Folly must have been located adjacent to that as the River Leen runs along the bottom of its bac
  5. You wait until your hair starts to come off your head and re appears down your nose.
  6. I have fond memories of the Central Market. I went to school with the son of the owner of the fish and hot pea stall that was in there. Eric Dickinson. I think that his son Stuart still has the fish stall in Victoria Market. The closure of that market, was the begining of the end of the markets in Nottingham. The Victoria Market was never a worthy replacement. I still frequent the stall that sells CDs on a fairly regular basis, but the chap on there looks as if he is nearing retirement age. I do not recall if he had a similar record stall on the Central Market before the Victoria was open

  8. Ashley, sorry I am a bit behind having just joined. I remember that incident with the shop owner dissapearing and never being found. I drove past there yesterday with a work colleague and I was telling him about it. I had to wake him up afterwards mind you. I have also recently purchased a bed from the current Staddons. Grandson and Great Grandson still own and run it. Very obliging people too. Just to keep on thread, Woolies on Lister Gate also had the cash pipe system.
  9. I have childhood memories of one of Pownall's collection points. I cannot call it a scrap yard, as I only remember it as a place where you took clothing/material etc and getting a couple of Pennies for it. It was situated on Alfreton Road, virtually opposite the Forest Road junction, to the right of the alleyway that is there now, that leads to the flats, that were not there in those days of course. I also recall a Rag and Bone man, who used to walk down the Avenue in Radford where I lived, on a Saturday morning with his wheel barrow, shouting `Ragbone` It was a novelty for me as a kid, to g
  10. I don't recall that particular landlord Mick. As for Trickett's living at the top of Oakdale, you could well be right, I think in their day, they were like the Pownall's, everywhere.
