  1. As a kid, I spent most of my pocket money on sweets - they relieved the tedium of slogging over lessons at school. Even in the senior girls, I well remember the thrill of having a penny in my pocket at the end of a school day, calling in at the sweet shop on my way home and deciding whether it was going to be a huge penny chew, four smaller ones or an Arrow Bar - serious decisions back then! Still can't resist the sugary delights occasionally: Wilko's do a bag of assorted toffees for 75pence; only trouble is they're so yummy, once I start eating them I can't stop - make a right pig of m
  2. Good to know that I've been missed: been holidaying after a long illness. Taken a peek at the falcons and their brood but there's no sign of life - hope this is a good omen.
  3. Wonderful news; so thrilled for Mr and Mrs PG. Have been checking but not reporting; things appeared static with Mrs PG constantly on the nest - she deserves a Medal. Hope to see a glimpse of the family soon.
  4. Trevor, congratulations on reaching the 2,000th mark - always lovely to read your lovely, sunny broadcasts.
  5. @ #11: @ 'The other thing that you'll find Mick is that when you get on the first bus after 9.30 am it'll be full of old folk!!' - meaning yourself and your lady wife Commo?
  6. Believe it or not, it's great becoming the holder of a Bus Pass. The day I received mine - a few years back (not ashamed to say) - I sat on the tram and shouted: "Yippee!". Gone were the days of struggling to find the change for a bus journey. I've visited some great places on mine: Leicester, Derby, Derbyshire, Mablethorpe, Oakham, Southwell....................... I use mine almost every day, gets me out of the house: even if it's merely shopping trips or exploring the environs of Nottm / Notts.
  7. Mrs PG faithfully on the nest; looks like she's becoming fatter with her plumped up feathers - could be because she's not getting her usual exercise.
  8. No change: Mrs PG, still attentive to her eggs.........................
  9. John Berry, welcome to 'Nottstalgia'.
  10. Mrs PG, very much alert and I'm sure looking up at camera. Apparently the falcons are very noisy; wish we could hear their conversations.
  11. Mrs PG grooming herself on the nest. A strong wind up there on the 9th floor of the Newton Building but Mrs PG remains resolute...............
  12. 'Richards' sold quality clothes at quality prices. I remember I had a grey costume - matching skirt and jacket - from here and kept it as my best; always looked good with black, suede, winkle picker stilletos. My first costume from 'C&A Modes' was cut from black and white tweed material with black, mock leather decorating the collar of the jacket. Adored wearing this suit, lasted me for ages, up 'til today even - although I now see it in my mind's eye! 'Chelsea Girl' when it landed during the 70's, was like a breathe of fresh air on the high street: lots and lots of up-to-date fashi
  13. Mrs PG: 'Always true to you darling in my fashion'; been looking for you but shade is too dark for me to notice anything. See you soon.
  14. Used to like taking a look around Nottingham's Boutiques and 'a look' it was only, for the prices in these places were extortionate - there again you were paying for the label / originality. PS: Once bought a purple lipstick and some coloured tights from 'Biba'; certainly made me feel good wearing them.
  15. I wonder is the present BHS in the place where the old Woolworth's once stood? Anyone notice that the toilets in BHS are very old and up a mountain of stairs, I'm wondering if they once belonged to Woolworth's? PS: Decent bargains to be found in BHS these days: wasn't so back in the olden days when BHS was considered a high quality store - in competition with M&S - there used to be a decent restaurant in there too I recall.
  16. Bless you Michael, always find time for watching Mrs PG; I'm flying off now......................................
  17. Michael, listened all the way through to Owen James - which says a lot for me. Owen in the style of Neil Young, James Taylor and I hope definitely going places.
  18. Mrs PG, wide awake and very concerned about the traffic noises of the night; got some smashing shots......................... she's gorgeous.
  19. Hi Beefy, I assume that being as the female bird is bigger than the male, then she has the full time job of sitting on the eggs? - makes sense this: a wide/r expanse of body and wings protects her brood. PS: I was fortunate to receive a beautiful camera for my birthday: took some snaps of Mrs PG but not very inspiring, need a good pose; when I manage one, I plan on making a print, then painting from this. PS: Many thanks to Stu for his usual kindness in putting on the Amazing image @ #51.
  20. Precious eggs not left for long for she's back on the nest; or could it be Mr PG? - do they take it in turns protecting the eggs? I'm only a novice regarding bird watching, so perhaps a more knowledgeable person could enlighten me?
  21. Mrs PG's just risen, given a big stretch and now flown off leaving her beautiful three red / brown eggs for me to see. Aren't I just lucky today!
  22. It seems like Mrs PG is defying sleep, only a few minutes ago she was literally 'nodding off', closing her eyes, yet when I took another look at the webcam later she was wide eyed; a sign surely that birds like we humans have strong, protective instincts - on their guard. PS: If the light is good tomorrow - Pray to God - I'm going to paint her.
  23. How on earth can you 'mangle pots'? You'd smash 'em to smithereens!
  24. 'Poking holes in pikelets' eh Paulus? A good way for your mum to get rid of pent up frustrations - and she got paid for it!
  25. Mrs PG looking up and around - extremely alert. She's so beautiful with her distinctive markings; I've decided that I'm going to paint her.
