  1. We've had these such phone calls a few times and I don't give them time of day. When we were in Miami a few months ago we were getting calls almost every day. All the calls came from California. I led them on a bit and acted a bit dumb and naive, pretending I was doing everything they told me to do and then told them I didn't even have a computer, they ended the call immediately.

  2. What a shame this British summer weekend is so grey and wet, especially as there are so many big sporting events taking part. As well as Le Tour we've got Wimbledon finals, Grand Prix and Henley Regatta. Don't suppose the rain will worry those taking part but thousands of spectators will get a soaking.

  3. I can't imagine the kids doing it today. It really was hard work, I bet we didn't get much pay either. We probably spent it on Park Drives and Chips!

My two boys went courgette picking in their school holidays, (about 20 years ago), that's posher than spud picking by the way

  4. I worked in our local hardware shop from the age of 13. Not sure if it would be allowed nowadays at such a tender age. I served paraffin, firewood, paint and all the other paraphernalia normally found in such a shop. Left when I was 17 as I started a full-time job as a Secretary.

  5. Just about anybody could claim they were abused by these old men 40 years ago, nobody, including Rolf, Stuart Hall, Max Clifford, DLT and the rest of them would remember anything about it unless the offences went on for a long time. I can't remember a lot of what I was doing that long ago!

  6. It certainly puts a different perspective on it when you can relate to personal experience Carni. I'm sure there are vile paedophiles walking amongst us wherever we may be. But in my opinion these cases of elderly television personalities being dragged through the courts 40 or 50 years on is a waste of public money. The victims have come forward because there is compensation to be had. They were most probably there at the time because they thought it was cool to have an association with a well known personality. Just think about it ....... it would not have been easy to get up close to these men when they were top tv personalities. Did you ever try to get to meet your favourite pop star at the stage door? Not easy was it? Savile was different, he worked it so he was able to interfere with sick and vunerable people in hospitals. I met him once at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and he gave me a kiss on the cheek ...... it makes me feel sick thinking about that now ...... but I've used the story quite a few times, because he was well known. If he'd been some random bloke walking along the hospital corridor it wouldn't be worth talking about would it? We've also met DLT several times as we lived in the next village to him years ago and I'd see him regularly around the area. Last met him at a friend's birthday party 18 months ago. I still don't think he is guilty of serious offences.
