My father was an armament inspector presumably at the ROC in the Nottingham area when I was born in 1940. I don't seem to be able to find any information from around that time. Records seem to be plentiful around the 70s and I am wondering if records were either lost or destroyed. Does anyone have any information from around that time? Anything would be appreciated.

I remember getting the Barton buses from Broadmarsh down to Bramcote and if I remember right, there were 'Trent' buses too?

I remember the Goose Fair from my teenage years in the 50s. What an adventure it was! I loved the Waltzer and seemed to remember the Fair was so big we got lost in it - maybe it's my memory playing tricks on me.

Thanks for all comments.

Ewe Lamb Lane in Bramcote where I was born has got to be up there!

The Capewells used to live on or near the Derby Road, Bramcote in the 1940s. Tony was the father, a son Tony, daughters Carol and Barbara. Think Tony the father was a farmer. They moved to Thurgaton I think.

I was born in 1940 in Bramcote but the only memory I have really was the sound of the sirens! My father, I think, worked as an armament examiner possibly at the ROF and I am still trying to find out more about him and that workplace without much joy.

I remember the Barton buses and the Mount St. bus station. I used to travel on them from Bramcote to Nottingham to work in the 50s and thought it was a long journey! I remember seeing a Barton bus some years ago here in Scotland and was surprised to see them still in existence. Maybe not now?
