Many years ago i had worked all day in Cleethorpes and had'nt had a break,and at 6.30 pm thought i 'll have some seaside fish n chips before setting off home,.saw a little fish/chip restaurant on the sea front and went in,the man looked at his watch and said'you best be quick i shut in 20 minutes'
I told him not too politely where he could shove himself and his chips,then drove all the way to Southwark st,Basford,(Marlows) and had the lovliest fish/chips at home...........served with a smile and lots of "ay up ducks"

Yes Trevor it does sound like him,he was tallish slim with fair hair,i remember him as a bit of a 'loner,nice bloke but not a mixer.

YOU tend to remember blokes called 'Aubrey' the one i knew was Aubrey Watson from Gainsford on Bestwood estate,and i'm sure ge was a Taxi driver in the 60s.

THe Chinese chippy on Bagnall rd was friendly and funny,my daughter used to go in at lunch time when she was at Ellis School,and the Chinese lady who owned it really made her laugh one day,a lad used to run in and pull his eyes into a squint and shout "any free fish bits" (in chinese accent) Anyway this particular day the Chinese lady responded by opening her eyes really wide with her fingers and replied,"NO NOW F... OFF.
