  1. Some people on Face-book were recently slagging Bulwell off.......with out being 'Specific''.............I must say i went into a bit of a long 'Monalogue'' in defence of Bulwell........

ITs  shops.......its free parking.......its lovely old Buildings....its great transport facilities Train..Tram and bus stations........the fact it has a Market 4 days a week...and always fairly busy.......the lovely river Leen that twyns its way thru it...going under an old bridge thats ..nearly 100 years old......not forgetting the grand old 'St Mary's church'' that overlooks it all and where i was Christened in 1950......and suggested that if and when Wilko's finally closes the large building that fairly well dominates around the old market place...could be turned into a large in door Market....bit like 'Central Market used to be in Nottingham.....

I went on a bit more about its people and their friendlieness.....anyway did my bit in Bulwells defence........then pressed the wrong thing and lost it all....and ive no intention of repeating myself........

  3. Just been announced 'Wilko's' stores will close next week.........don't really care for wilko's........but i'll be thinking of the 12000 staff being made redundant........i know many of the staff in Bulwell who have been there since its Coop days.........i also worry about what the atmosphere will be like in Bulwell and other places...Wilko's is such a large store in a Prime Position.......but then again Bulwell as overcome bigger problems in its History.....

Just the same in Newark Jill, mobile phone repair shops, cafes, nail bars, mobile phone shops and charity shops that seem to charge more for their goods than the original shops they came from, in fact nothing there that interests me

    Rog

Must admit Rog......do like the Charity shops''....in the last couple of years ive bought loads of different products in them.......from 'Ornamental' Cats to small pieces of ''Furniture''..........in fact this afternoon ive been sorting ..Scarves..Ties..shirts...shorts...Lycra bottoms and a couple of Jackets...i no longer wear to take to the ''Cancer'' charity shop in Bulwell......

But i must admit its the inter-action with the staff i most enjoy....believe it or not i also get the odd short dance too......LOL.....

Thought i'd give you an update on the wife's special Rose''..........still in a Pot...and flowered yesterday...i have 6 Roses all in Pots and its always the first to 'Flower''.....think it loves Notts...after its origins in Cambs''.........makes Donna's day on a regular basis...funny thing is it was her Mothers birthday too yesterday...Donna is sure..its her Mother saying hello...:)

Must give you another up-date on Donna's Mum's special Rose.......remember we brought it all the way from Peterborough when her Mum had passed away and the House was sold.........well 4 weeks ago it looked 'Dead again...then during the last fortnight it sorted itself out

......it gradually went dark brown and many 'Buds' appeared....none of my other Roses showed any signs of 'Flowering'for the 2nd time this year.............well now its in 'Full bloom' again with Ten lovely flowers..........in all its years in Peterborough it only ever had one flower....

Funny how Rose as played a part in my life.........My Grandma had a sister 'ROSE' obviously my Great Aunt'' and i remember her well.....then my Grandma had a daughter 'ROSE'...A Lovely lady who passed away in her 40s....but gave me my beautiful Cousin 'Carol'...who over the years as been very special to me....Then 37 years ago Donna gave me my only Daughter...who when she was born had to be my special Rose....and that night the 'Pianist' ''Harry'' at our local the Masons Arms'' in Basford played Rose songs for over an hour with the whole Bar joining in...........and to crown all my Lovely 'Roses'' along came another 'ROSE'....my Grand daughter..''Charley Rose''.........and it all started in 1900 with my Great Aunt''........

Sorry about my long 'Ramble'' just cant help it...

I make the occasional Nottinghamese comments, such as calling my husband ‘duck’!  I remember when we first came back here and he (being a Southerner) looking aghast when a shopkeeper called him duckie!   To be honest when living in the Home Counties for 30 years no-one could tell where I originated from, which I was happy about, our local accent isn’t harsh like Scouse or Brum but I like being ‘middle England’

Similar to the Wife Lizzie.......she been up here 37 years now....but she has no accent.to speak of..although she does use some of our Nottingham words now....like..'EY-UP DUCK...When i say 'no accent'...she does have one that is unique to her....all her family are from Devon with quite broad Devonian speak....but Donna was brought up in Cambs.........and so i sometimes detect a little bit of Devon mixed with Cambridgeshire.......no one can place her speak''

Anyway the reason i mention all that is about an hour ago a chap delivered us a Parcel.....and strange enough i detected a bit of Donna's speech.and said'' have you got some Devon in you?...turned out his background was very much same as Donna's....born in Devon...grew up in Ely Cambs but has lived in Notts for 40 years.........he was amazed that i guessed his Devon roots......and said no one has ever guessed that before up here.........

Thought i'd tell you all about that......hope it didn't Bore you......
