Kath - in that case I've taken plenty of practice swings!
Don't mind tennis, do enjoy watching snooker though. One that I can't stand is cricket! Possibly because I have no idea what the rules are!
Melissa, that could be a 'silly backward point' or even a ' backward short leg' but thanks for ' declaring'

Yeah - go back just for a day. Don't forget the icy winters, the smog, no central heating, horse dung all over the place, much poverty and no equality for women. And no internet
Glad i never took you out 'back in the day' Sue,........all you did was complain.......

Benjamin1945 - Wally Swift was the uncle of a friend of ours called David Swift.......
The 'Swifts' were if i remember right a large family that lived in St'Anns and when i worked for Marsdens early 60s Wallys Mam used to do her shopping in the one on Parliament st,funnily enough opposite the 'Ice Stadium' where Wally went on to have many of his fights.

Birmingham was my 1st real encounter with Ethnics' in the 60s,and i admire the way they melted in and became accepted, and i think its great when i hear the Brummy/black country accent spoke by such diverse people, the area just absorbed them.
