  1. A lot of these posts are referring to children in pubs, the original post was not allowing them in hotels and holiday accommodations, there is a big difference.

You are quite correct Darkazana,we all need our legs slapping......... :)

  2. Did'nt realise until last week why i never saw kids in the back Garden of Wetherspoons, reason is they are not allowed, because smoking is.Which i think is good also another rule about kids in Wetherspoons is they must have meal plus the parents are only allowed 2 drinks, again i reckon that is good, stops parents getting 'smashed all day whilst in charge of kids, which i'm sure a few in my beloved Bulwell would.

  3. I agree with most of what you say Cliff Ton,...all i am saying is 'its a shame'...........perhaps should have banned the culprits or perhaps used the 'warning points?

We all have different interests, and folk should put their points of view in a non abusive way.

  4. I fully understand the forums policy on political/religeous threads and the legal implications wherby some members go too far,but i do feel that its taken something away from the forum as a whole.

Ive only been a member about 6 months and ive really enjoyed my time here,i just think its become a little less interesting of late,

JUST MY THOUGHTS,anyone else think the same,or is it just me?

  5. I remember a place called "The Railway Club" on Wilford Lane somewhere between the Chateau and the Rivermead flats we used to frequent the place on a sunday lunchtime it had one of those old fashioned tanner one armed bandits, Tic Tac Toe dropped the jackpot all in tanners and was one of the most wonderful sounds I can recall. Just wondered if anyone remembered the place and what it had to do with the railways.

Iused to work behind the bar at the 'railway club' in Bulwell in the 60s (4/6 per hour) and heard some of the members talk about the one in Wilford, and the one armed bandit was probably the same type, only accepted the old tanners,we used to play it after hours, one night it went wrong and paid out on every pull, the Steward immediatly made us cease playing it and pulled the plug out, very honest man.

  6. NewBasfordlad, that info surprises me, I thought there was no breathalyser until late 70's/early 80's. I remember the BBC sending a reporter to our local pub in Bedfordshire on 9the day that I thought the breathalyser came into being.

I am sure the breathaliser came out late 60s,i remember being in Birmingham and having a slight panic attack seeing the Police stopping cars late one night when i had been drinking, think it was 69' may be wrong?

  7. Could'nt believe it the other day, went in my regular paper shop, and Abdul the owner gave me 10p too much in my change,he twigged staight away and said,'i gave you too much change'.............i said 'yes i know, thank you very much Abdul'.......he laughed and said 'cheeky bugger' as i left the store with his 10p.

    magic moment.

  8. Back in the 50s and 60s you would never believe that one day we would all be walking about with a computer in our pockets, even a TV,Camera and a sat nav, that the USA would have a black president, another 'Holy war' and England a 3rd rate football team.

Amazing really int it.,wonder whats coming next?

  9. Face to face in business,is what ive been used to,then you know who you are dealing with, the travel the expectation, the aura of the people (or not) and the place, the general feeling of being involved, perhaps its just me,but thats what i call being alive.
