Shameful that the Royal Flying Doctor Service is not supported by the Aussie government.
Deepdene, The Australian Federal Government does support the Royal Flying Doctor Service to the tune of $330 million over the next 4 years and it is supported by the State governments too but the RFDS still relies heavily on community fundraising and donations.

Possums are a real nuisance
I agree RB they are a bl**dy nuisance, they pee everywhere and use scent glands to mark their territories.
If you trap them you are supposed to release them within 150 metres of where they were caught. If I could have caught the ones that played football on my garage roof at 2:00am they would have needed a train ticket to get home.
We had a koala that regularly came to visit the garden and the first time you hear a male koala grunt when he is looking for a mate it sounds like he is belching.

The only accompaniment to Stilton is some water biscuits and a good Port

Before I give what pennies I have to any charity I always check on what proportion actually ends up with those it claims to support. Some have exorbitant administration costs. Look it up you will be surprised.

Like Deepdene Boy I wonder why some organisations are not fully funded by government in Australia too i.e. The Royal Flying Doctor Service for one

Iv'e only moved 10 miles north of Bulwell...........but i feel i'm in the North.........the accent is different
Regardless of geographical lines on a map linguists say that t'north starts at Hucknall as it appears that this is where the dialect changes from mostly southern to northern influences. I wonder if it is due to the influence of mining communities?

Lost all interest last few years Oz,,
Sad to say I am losing interest too, there are no true characters in the game any more. The TV coverage is woeful and the radio broadcasts are even worse. The clowns on the radio have forgotten that we cannot see what is happening and that they need to paint a word picture for us instead of waffling on about the game in their day.

I hardly ever wear a watch now that I am retired nor do I carry round my mobile phone. Time is largely irrelevant, I know when it is getting light or dark and my stomach tells me when it is lunch or dinnertime.
On the rare occasions I do wear a watch, my favourite id a "gold Lolex" that I bought from the markets in Penang over thirty years ago for $4 and it has only ever had new batteries.

£14:50 !!!! A bit rich for an old wino like me.
DJ, Think quality not quantity, also there is less of a hangover as better quality wine usually has less additives.
Its just like a good single malt scotch vs a cheap blend.

We used to transport our criminals to Van Diemens' Land
They could really get lost in the Tasmanian wilderness (the name was changed in 1856)

Oz, perhaps you could invite all three of them down under and then send them on walkabout. Would be doing the rest of the world a massive favour.
Isn't It really about time you Poms stopped dumping the refuse of your society down here.
On second thoughts if it would get rid of them then why not! There are a few others that should be included too, any thoughts?

I’ve seen several films featuring Richard Hearne (Mr Pastry).
Even as a kid I never found Mr Pastry at all funny along with Charlie Drake and Norman Wisdom, their humour was far too telegraphed for my liking. Not forgetting that annoying little irk Arthur Askey

"Pop factory link to the ale"
I don't want my beer to taste like oranges or flowers or any other plant matter. I want it to taste like beer, malt and hops are ok though.

I enjoyed listening to it, your right nothing has changed , will it ever ?
I live in hope but with Boris looking likely to be the next PM, Putin in Russia, Trump in the USA I have real concerns for the future. Glad we are pretty much out of the way down here although we do have some strategic targets, luckily mostly in the outback.

Yes I would, brilliant, the days when the England selectors used to shout down the shaft at Annesley pit and up would pop another fast bowler

,breakfast in Morrisons Kirkby
Hi Ben, is Morrisons in the old Regent Cinema on Diamond Avenue, on the opposite corner was the Nags Head.
When I worked in Kirkby in the seventies often used to pop over the road to The Railway Inn (a Mansfield house) for a swift pint and a pasty at lunch time.
Alas the Railway Inn is long gone now an Aldi.

Never went to Carrington lido but spent a lot of time at Papplewick and Calverton lidos and they too were freezing, never seemed to bother us though.
Can't remember any time limit and often spent the full day there, no sunscreen then which is probably why I keep having to have chunks cut out of me.

This is a song by an Australian country singer Reg Lindsay about Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon.
Please have a listen and think about the words , they were true then and I think even more so today as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and the politics of hate get stronger.
He sings about a July afternoon which is when it happened Australian Time
